New committee reinvents physician partnerships at Renown
The Physician Collaboration Committee, an idea originally announced in April by the Renown Health Board of Directors, has been finalized and will begin its work with an inaugural meeting in mid-July. The committee includes a diverse group of physicians representing both primary and specialty care. The group also includes the Dean of the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
"The group's composition was critically important to us so we can benefit from many diverse and contributory views," said Leslie Smith, MD, who will serve as Chair of the committee.
Renown has posted the names and photos of inaugural Physician Collaboration Committee Members. The group will complement, but not replace, the work of the Medical Executive Committees and various Medical Staff Committees. The collaboration is tied permanently to the board committee structure, and is set up as a standing committee of the Renown Health Board.
Among their duties are developing and shaping future clinical leadership models, recommending best practices for integrating physicians in Renown’s operations, and conducting focus groups to find solutions to improve quality and the patient experience.
"The committee is a forum in which physician leaders can help shape and guide the future of healthcare in our region," said David Line, Chair of the Renown Health Board. "It is structured to have longevity and sustainability, even through management and leadership changes."
