Cancer type is determined by the location in the body where it originated, even if it has spread (metasticized) to another location. If a tumor began in the breast and metasticized to the brain, it is still considered breast cancer. The tumor in the breast is considered the primary tumor, the tumor in the brain is secondary or metatastic.
