Linda Ferris, PhD Vice President, Renown Institute for Cancer Linda Ferris, PhD, Vice President of the Renown Institute for Cancer, brings more than 18 years of executive leadership experience in health care. Prior to her position with Renown, Ferris served as executive director, Oncology and Surgical Services at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland and Vice President of Strategic Planning. She played a prominent role in the execution of a Cancer Research Affiliation agreement with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins for the DeCesaris Cancer Institute at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Prior to this position, she built The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, a joint venture, freestanding cancer center in Waterbury, CT---the result of a partnership of St. Mary's Hospital and Waterbury Hospital. Dr. Ferris was recruited to this project from the Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, also a joint venture, freestanding cancer center in Flint, Michigan, where she served as President and CEO. |
Ferris holds a doctorate in organizational and psychological studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. She holds a master's degree in clinical psychology from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and a bachelor's degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
She was appointed to the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer (ACOS CoC), representing the Member Organization, the Association of Cancer Executives. Ferris serves on the Program Review Subcommittee. She leads the Category and Eligibility Workgroup, a sub-committee of the Cancer Program Standards 2011 Project. She serves as Chair of the Member Organization Steering Committee of the CoC and is a member of the Executive Committee of the CoC.
Her research and writing interests focus on assessing and improving quality-of-life related to persons' work and health. Hygeia Media, an imprint of the Oncology Nursing Society, recently published her book entitled, "Coping With Cancer". She has published numerous papers about rapid adoption of technological changes related to robotic surgery, radiation oncology, the cancer experience, the social and emotional needs of cancer patients and their families, and the leadership of healthcare organizations. |
