Renown Health Among Recipients of the 2008 Consumer Choice Award|
RENO, Nev. – (Oct. 2, 2008) – For the fifth year in a row, the National Research Corporation (NRC) awarded Renown Health with the 2008 Consumer Choice Award. Renown was the only health network in northern Nevada to receive the distinction. Other winners were listed in the Sept. 29 issue of “Modern Healthcare.” For a complete list of award recipients click here or visit www.hcmg.nationalresearch.com.
The award identifies hospitals that healthcare consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image in over 250 markets throughout the U.S. This is the thirteenth year NRC has awarded hospitals whose consumers have recognized them for providing the highest quality healthcare.
“Consumers continue to be empowered to make decisions for themselves and their families when selecting their healthcare facilities and services,” said Ginny Martin, president of NRC’s Healthcare Market Guide Division. “As care options multiply and consumer perception of quality grows in importance, dedication to providing a high level of quality healthcare becomes essential for hospitals. These Consumer Choice award winners exemplify the dedication it takes to provide quality healthcare to their communities, and we are please to honor them through the eyes of their patients.”
The award is given after the NRC does an annual study of 190 markets across the country. Consumers are asked more than 200 questions regarding healthcare in their communities. Four of the questions from the survey are rolled up into the results for the Consumer Choice Award. The questions probed consumers' thoughts on the best hospital in the area for doctors, nurses, overall quality, and image and reputation.
“This award is particularly significant because it not only reaffirms Renown Health’s position as the quality top-of-mind health network with the best skill, expertise and technology; but more importantly it also represents the most valuable reward of all, the knowledge that we have earned the trust and loyalty of our patients,” said Jim Miller, Renown Health president and chief executive officer. “This recognition speaks to the dedication of the employees, physicians and volunteers throughout our organization. It is their passion, professionalism and stewardship that are instrumental in meeting these critical success factors in our community.”
Each year, the NRC honors those hospitals that people rate as having the best quality and image, based on a nationally syndicated NRC Healthcare Market Guide study of more than 200,000 households representing 450,000 consumers in 46 states.
The 2008/09 Healthcare Market Guide is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study of its kind. No other study used to measure hospital performance and preferences contains more consumer responses than NRC’s study. The study has a margin of error of + or – 0.2 percent at a national level. Co-winners are named when scores fall within the statistical margin of error for a given market.
