Healing Arts 07/08/2010

MEDIA ADVISORY-PHOTO OPPORTUNITY

Artown Performances and Children Hospital Tours at Renown Health

WHAT:

Renown Health is featuring two Artown performances as part of the network’s Healing Arts Program. Following each performance, Renown Health Representatives will provide brief tours of the Children’s Hospital and other specialty services provided through the healthcare network.
DATE/TIME:
Sunday, July 11, 2010, 2 p.m., in the Tahoe Tower Lobby at Renown Regional Medical Center -- Reno Zazpiak Bat Basque Dance Group (free and open to the public).

Tuesday, July 20, 2010, 6 p.m., in the Mack Auditorium at Renown Regional Medical Center -- TheatreWorks of Northern Nevada presents “The Jungle Book” (free and open to the public).

DETAILS:
Sunday’s Basque dance group is comprised mostly of children and their parents, ages ranging from four to fifty. The group performs in authentic attire at Basque festivals throughout the west. Reno’s Zazpiak Bat Basque Club was organized in 1966 and the dance group soon followed.

TheaterWorks’ condensed one-hour play scheduled for July 20 is based on the stories by Rudyard Kipling. The play is suitable for all ages. The event is also acting as a book drive for The Washoe County School District’s Read and Succeed Program. Those attending the play are encouraged to bring a book level K-6 for the Community Book Drive Round Up! Books should be in good condition and appropriate for children.

Brief 20 minute tours of the Renown Children’s Hospital will follow each performance.

WHERE:
Both events will be held at Renown Regional Medical Center, 1155 Mill Street, Reno, Nev.

VISUALS:
Children dancing in colorful authentic attire to entertain hospital patients and community members. “The Jungle Book” performers will be dressed in costume and will be available for media interviews before and after the play. Artown representatives will also be available.

CONTACT:
All media must be escorted on hospital property. To ensure uninterrupted access to the events contact Dan Davis, public relations business partner, at (775) 691-7308.
