Honoring Katie: A Legacy of Courage and Compassion
Katie Histing was a beacon of light in our community. For six years, she faced Ewing’s Sarcoma with unmatched courage and a heart full of love, inspiring everyone she met. Diagnosed at just 17, Katie fought valiantly and left a lasting mark on our hearts. Katie passed away on November 25, 2024, surrounded by family, friends, and a community who loved her deeply. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and hope will forever remind us of the power of compassion.
A Bond Beyond Treatment
Katie received her care at Renown Children’s Hospital, where she became close to countless nurses, doctors, and staff members.
“I am so grateful for the care I have received through Renown and the blessing to be able to stay in my hometown for the majority of my cancer treatment. I am able to do this thanks to the funding that Renown Children’s Hospital has received to grow their programming and have a children’s oncology group, "said Katie on Sept. 13 at the Biggest Little Classic.
"They were her medical team, but our family,” said Katie’s mom Lynn Histing.
The care teams often spoke of Katie’s resilience and her ability to make everyone feel seen and loved. She wasn’t just a patient; she was a friend and a source of joy.
