This support group is designed to provide support, education, networking and resource materials to caregivers who are coping with a loved one who has been diagnosed with cancer. *Please note that this is a support group designed for Caregivers only. Video enabled attendance available. Patients can access remotely and join from any video-enabled device (smart phone, iPad, laptop, or webcam/desktop). Upon registering, you will receive instructions on how to virtually connect.   Please note: Masks are required to enter the hospital and while navigating to and from your classroom. Once inside your classroom, masks will be optional to wear during your class.

This class is designed for expectant parents to gain knowledge on current research and recommendations, which promote necessary infant health, wellness and safety. Parents-to-be will learn how to care for their newborn, including bathing, diapering, cord care, signs of illness, nutrition, feeding, infant safety, understanding newborn behavior along with growth and development. To attend, please register using the expecting mother’s name and information.

This group is for all patients facing cancer. The meeting enables participants to share experiences and express feelings and concerns. All cancer patients, family members, survivors, and caregivers are welcome to attend. Meets weekly on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in person and virtually. The American Heart Association Family & Friends “Infant CPR and Choking” (birth to one year) course is for those who want to learn infant CPR but do NOT need a course completion card in CPR for their job. This course is ideal for schools and students, new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested in learning how to save a life. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven “practice-while-watching” technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible. Please Note: Masks are required to enter the hospital and while navigating to and from your class(s). Once inside your classroom, masks will be optional to wear during your class.

Facilitated by a prostate cancer survivor, this support group is designed to help men cope with prostate cancer by offering education and support for patients during their cancer journey. Now offering the group both in-person and virtual. Video enabled attendance is available for all attendees. Patients can access remotely and join from any video-enabled device (smart phone, iPad, laptop, or webcam/desktop). Upon registering, you will receive instructions on how to virtually connect. Groups will be held every first and third Monday of each month, from 5:30-7:00PM in the Sierra Tower – Conference room 103 at Renown Regional Hospital.  This is a free support group. *Please Note – Registrations will need to be renewed each calendar year, please contact RSVP at 775-982-7787 8am-5pm if you need assistance in registering*

Join us for our free virtual Smoking Cessation 4-week program courtesy of Renown Health. This class is available to all who want to learn the risks of smoking and the benefits of quitting. In addition, participants will learn about their triggers to smoking, ways to cope while quitting, and available products to assist with becoming tobacco-free. This program begins on the 1st Wednesday of each month and will meet every Wednesday for four weeks from 4 to 5 p.m. Upon registering, you will receive instructions on virtually connecting 1-2 days before the class.

This class helps prepare parents for emergencies that may occur in baby’s first year. Along with car seat safety and basic baby proofing, discussion will include prevention and treatment of common injuries. Students will also learn and practice the skills necessary to perform infant CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), as well as the skills necessary to assist a choking infant. This class is for anyone who has undergone or is currently undergoing breast cancer treatment. The class focuses on educating patients on lymphedema and ways to reduce the risk of its occurrence. During the class, we will review the basic anatomy of the lymphatic system and describe common procedures performed during the treatment course for breast cancer that affects lymphatics. Prevention strategies, including compression sleeves, will be reviewed in addition to the typical presentation of early lymphedema. Additionally, a brief description of Axillary Web Syndrome will be reviewed, and basic stretches/exercises to implement if cording is present.
