Come join PBS Reno & the Sterling Silver Club for a Zentangle art class at the Brewery Arts Center! PBS Reno is offering this FREE class on August 17th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Light snacks will be provided, along with art supplies included. What is Zentangle? In this introduction to Zentangle, we work on the basic concepts to create the different angles of Zentangle to begin your “tangle library”! Zentangle art reduces stress, increases self-confidence, and supports mindfulness. The classes will be held at the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom – 449 W. King St, Carson City, NV 89703. Space is limited on a first come, first served basis. Register at the top of this event listing to RSVP for this class! In addition to this event, we’ll be holding another Zentangle class on August 3rd. Please choose from one of these classes and join us. Intermediate Mat Yoga with Katie Louvat

Meet our newest yoga instructor for our Wednesday Wellness Yoga series, Katie Louvat who is teaching Sterling Silver Club members Intermediate and Beginning Yoga every 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesday from 4-5 p.m. Intermediate Yoga is a friendly, and meditative practice designed to develop flexibility and strength, and to deepen your awareness of body, mind and breath. This class reflects the instructor’s fascination with anatomy and bio-mechanics and her commitment to teaching movement that is accessible, functional, compassionate and sustainable. Required props: yoga mat, two blocks, a blanket or two, a strap or tie, a ball for self-massage (pinky balls or tennis balls work well). The Yoga Center provides props for in-person students. Students are welcome to bring their own to the studio if that feels more comfortable. RSVP required. Choose from in-person or virtual: Virtual Instructions: Once you register, we’ll email the Zoom link. The Zoom link will be the same each week with reminder emails two days before class. Virtual attendees don’t need to RSVP each week. In-person Instructions (6 members max): Please fill out the form below and register above. Meet our newest yoga instructor for our Wednesday Wellness Yoga series, Lee Ann Maynard who is teaching Sterling Silver Club members Gentle Chair Yoga every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 4-5 p.m.. Experience the benefits of yoga without having to get onto the floor. This class is held virtual or in-person (limited space), and is perfect for those with limited mobility due to injury, recovery from surgery, arthritis, general stiffness and more. By incorporating gentle movement, breathing exercises and meditation techniques, you can build strength and flexibility. No yoga experience is necessary. Students will only need a stable chair (no wheels or armrests) if practicing from home. Chairs are provided for in-person attendees. RSVP required. This class helps prepare parents for emergencies that may occur in baby’s first year. Along with car seat safety and basic baby proofing, discussion will include prevention and treatment of common injuries. Students will also learn and practice the skills necessary to perform infant CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), as well as the skills necessary to assist a choking infant. The American Heart Association Family & Friends “Infant CPR and Choking” (birth to one year) course is for those who want to learn Infant CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job. Grandparents and other caregivers are welcome to attend. This class covers the following topics: Car seat safety education Safe sleep Baby proofing your home Basic first aid Infant CPR & Choking Please Note: All attendees MUST wear an appropriate face mask for the duration of the class.

The Silver Plate Cooking series is dedicated to providing a fun class, filled with opportunities to learn how to improve and maintain our health through nutrition. This class now takes place in-person and virtual. Attend and learn from Andria Herron, Dietary Educator with Renown Healthy Heart Program who will show us how to make healthy and satisfying meals each month. This workshop is focused on understanding and completing a Nevada Durable Power of Attorney of Healthcare, also known as an Advance Directive. What to expect: A brief presentation about the document, its contents and purpose. Time for questions. Staff will be on hand to assist with document completion. Notary will be present for notarization. Participants may have their document uploaded into their Renown electronic medical record and/or submitted to the Nevada Living Will Lockbox on their behalf. Please come prepared with; names, addresses and phone numbers of those you want to appoint in the document and a photo ID if notarization is desired. All required paperwork will be provided by our staff. There is no charge to attend this workshop, and please wear a mask.
