Research Pods

Cardiology Pod: The Cardiology Pod focuses on improving health outcomes among patients with cardiovascular healthcare needs. Ranging from coordination of clinical trials sponsored by pharmaceutical companies with the goal of developing novel treatments for heart disease to nation-wide registries focused on surveillance and prevention, the Cardiology Pod provides many opportunities to improve cardiovascular patient care.

Oncology Pod: In the Oncology Pod, we strive to provide cutting edge clinical research treatment options to cancer patients at Renown Health. In collaboration with pharmaceutical companies and cooperative groups such as the NIH National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP), the Oncology Pod focuses on cancer prevention, surveillance, care delivery, and quality of life improvement.

Specialty Pod: The Specialty Pod represents a group of research staff dedicated to the coordination of diverse research projects. With experience in neurology, pulmonology, and gastrointestinal research to name a few, the Specialty Pod strives to improve the health of diverse patient populations.

Healthy Nevada Project: The Healthy Nevada Project is a clinical study offering you, at no-cost, the opportunity to learn about your ancestry, diet insights and genetic risks linked to heart disease and certain cancers, including prevention strategies. Your contribution to this study also allows us to create a robust set of data and enables us to draw new conclusions about how to improve the health of the entire Nevada population.

Essential Personnel


Amberly Diets: Director of Clinical Research and Genomics

Amberly Diets has been with Renown Health since 2018 and is currently the Director of Clinical Research and Genomics. In this capacity, she is responsible for the Healthy Nevada Project, a large population health study; as well as all clinical trials across the organization. She is passionate about improving the way that we care for patients, whether that be through research, population health and genetics, or performance improvement. Prior to working at Renown, she was responsible for the implementation, account management, and leadership of scribe programs at a national organization. Amberly has a Masters of Health Administration from the George Washington University and a Bachelors from the University of Virginia. In her free time, she appreciates art, wine, travel, and cooking with her husband.

Gloria Venegas: Manager of Clinical Research

Gloria has eighteen years of research administration experience. Gloria recently relocated from Seattle to Reno. Gloria completed her Bachelors at San Jose State University in Business Administration. She has extensive experience in business administration, operations and finance. Gloria found her passion in research administration and served ten years as manager of the Pediatric Clinical Research Center at Seattle Children’s Research Institute and five years as Research Program Manager and Grants and Contracts Administrator primarily supporting Pulmonary and Hematology/Oncology Principal Investigators’ research portfolios. Gloria has a 6 lb. miniature Yorkshire fur baby “Missy”, loves gardening, Yoga, music and dance.

Letizia Longo: Office of Research and Education Program Manager

Letizia Longo received her Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Perugia, Italy. She continued her education pursuing a PhD Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Perugia, Italy and she then continued with post-doctoral training in the Department of Hematology, Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Post-Graduate Medical School, London. After several years working in basic/pre-clinical cancer research between Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City, and Harvard Medical School, Boston, she moved to Reno where she joined Renown Office of Research as Program Manager. She loves to hike and has been practicing yoga for more than 25 years. She likes to cook, mostly Italian cuisine.
