Renown Regional earned The Joint Commission
’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation for a three-year period. During the review in December, Joint Commission surveyors evaluated compliance with hospital standards related to emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management. Renown South Meadows Medical Center received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® accreditation for Total Knee Replacement, Total Hip Replacement and Total Shoulder Replacement. Renown Hospice achieved a deficiency-free Joint Commission Survey with two best practices identified.
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 4.5 Star Rating - Senior Care Plus
Senior Care Plus, a Medicare Advantage Plan from Hometown Health, received a 4.5 Star Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
making it the highest-rated Medicare Advantage Plan in the state of Nevada for 2018. Medicare Advantage Plans are rated on 44 unique quality and performance measures. Hometown Health also conducted a successful CMS Medicare Advantage Organization (MAO) Program Audit and CMS Call Center Surveillance.
Outstanding Achievement Award by the Commission on Cancer
Renown Health was awarded the 2018 Outstanding Achievement Award by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), becoming one of a select group of 24 U.S. accredited cancer programs to receive this national honor for cancer surveys performed January 1 – December 31, 2018. Renown's cancer program was evaluated on 34 program standards categorized within five cancer program activity areas: program management, clinical services, continuum of care services, patient outcomes, and data quality. The cancer program was further evaluated on seven commendation standards.
American Association of Critical Care Nurses - Beacon Award for Excellence
Renown’s Roseview, Sierra and Cardiac Intensive Care Units have each been awarded a Beacon Award of Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)
. This award is based on sustained unit performance and patient outcomes that exceed national benchmarks. Renown had the only Intensive Care units awarded this distinction in Nevada.

Blue Distinction Center+ for Cardiac Care
As a Blue Distinction Center+ for Cardiac Care, Renown Health provides a full range of inpatient cardiac care services; including coronary artery bypass graft surgery, heart valve surgery and angioplasty (percutaneous coronary intervention). To qualify as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Cardiac Care, Renown demonstrates better quality care and improved patient outcomes, including lower complication rates following certain cardiac procedures.
Commission on Cancer Accreditation
Renown Institute for Cancer received three-year full accreditation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons
with commendation in all seven areas. Only 25 percent of cancer programs attain this distinction, which recognizes the quality of comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient care. Renown is the only accredited Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer program in northern Nevada to be selected, and one of only three programs statewide.

Best Hospital 2018-19 rankings, Renown Regional Medical Center was rated High Performing, its highest rating possible, for Colon Cancer Surgery. Renown South Meadows was rated High Performing for Hip Replacement. A hospital's score is based on multiple data categories, including patient outcomes, safety and volumes. Hospitals earning a high performing rating were significantly better than the national average.
ACTION Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award
Renown has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2019. Renown is one of only 225 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor. The award recognizes Renown’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that Renown has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association
clinical guidelines and recommendations.

The employees and physicians at Renown South Meadows Medical Center have once again been honored for having the highest quality patient care in the community, according to a recent report released from The Joint Commission
. The Joint Commission honored Renown South Meadows as a Top Performing Hospital for meeting the "95 percent or greater" performance threshold for evidence-based clinical processes in both pneumonia and surgical care.
Gold Seal of Approval for Hip and Knee Joint Replacement
Renown Regional Medical Center has earned its third Gold Seal of Approval® by The Joint Commission
for management of hip and knee joint replacements. This approval recognizes Renown's dedication to compliance with The Joint Commission’s rigorous standards of care specific to patients' needs, including preoperative education, infection prevention and control, early mobilization and medication management. Renown received its most recent recertification by The Joint Commission in April 2018.
Designated Level II Trauma Center
American College of Radiology (ACR)
Radiation Therapy at Renown Institute for Cancer is the only program in the region to receive national accreditation from the American College of Radiology
(ACR) for radiation oncology. Only 222 facilities in the United States have received ACR Accreditation for Radiation Oncology and Renown Regional is the only hospital in the northern Nevada and northern California area to earn this national honor.
National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC)
Renown Institute for Cancer is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
(NAPBC). NAPBC is a consortium of professional organizations from around the nation focused on breast health. The accreditation is given to centers dedicated to the improvement of quality care and outcomes of patients with diseases of the breast through evidence-based standards and patient and professional education.
Designated Cardiac Surgery Center for Excellence
The Institute for Neurosciences' EEG Laboratory is accredited by the Laboratory Accreditation Board of ABRET
; accreditation means the EEG Laboratory met strict standards and is recognized as a place where patients and physicians can have confidence they are receiving quality diagnostics. ABRET (American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists) is the credentialing board for EEG, Evoked Potential, and Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring Technologists.

is one of 55 affiliate programs nationwide to be approved for accreditation as an Affiliate Program by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Center Committee. The program follows a team approach to care and all patients are seen by a dedicated team of pediatric pulmonology, nurses, dietitians, social worker, and respiratory therapists.

Achieved recognition as an Anticoagulation Center of Excellence
by the Anticoagulation Forum, a multidisciplinary non-profit organization that works to improve the quality of care for patients taking blood-thinning medications. The two-year Anticoagulation Center of Excellence designation is awarded to programs that provide the highest level of comprehensive care and achieve the best possible outcomes for patients on blood thinners.
Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) Screening Center of Excellence
Renown Regional Medical Center has been named a Screening Center of Excellence by The Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA)
for its ongoing commitment to responsible lung cancer screening. Studies have shown Low dose CT screening for lung cancer carried out safely, efficiently and equitably saves tens of thousands of lives a year. Designated Screening Centers of Excellence are committed to providing clear information on lung cancer screening and comply with comprehensive standards based on best practices developed by professional bodies such as the American College of Radiology (ACR), the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP). Renown Regional Medical Center practices low dose CT screening for lung cancer and is committed to providing the highest level of patient care.
Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP)
Renown Regional Medical Center’s bariatric surgery program has earned the highest accreditation – the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP)
. This designation of being a top-level comprehensive center demonstrates advance safe, high-quality care for bariatric surgical patients. As a part of MBSAQIP’s review process, our bariatric program reports how many patients served with outcome measures to meet national standards. To earn MBSAQIP accreditation, Renown Regional confirmed the ability to support a bariatric surgical care program and measure up to the rigorous performance requirements outlined by the accreditation standards.
Pathway to Excellence
Renown Regional Medical Center and Renown South Meadows Medical Center both earned redesignation for Pathway to Excellence®. Each hospital was originally named an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence® Hospital beginning in 2012. This designation is awarded to healthcare organizations that demonstrate a dedication to nursing excellence and confirms what Renown nurses have always been committed to — providing the best patient care possible including recognizes elements of an ideal nursing practice environment including safety in the work environment, systems to address patient care concerns and nurse recognition.
