Gary Aldax is Coordinator of Operations and Services at the University of Nevada, Sanford Center for Aging, and has worked in health care since 1992. A third-generation Nevadan, Gary enjoys travel and history. He is also a Wolf Pack fan. Gary has served on the boards of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and the UNR Alumni Council.
Margo Trachok Bertelson
Margo Trachok Bertelson is a retired RN. Her career was spent working at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in the Intensive Care Nursery and for Washoe County School District as a school nurse and volunteering at Our Lady of The Snows School with her children. She is a native Nevadan, graduate from Orvis School of Nursing with deep roots in the community and the University Of Nevada. Her emphasis has always been for the health and well-being of all children. Currently she works with her husband Bill in his real estate company and spending as much time as possible with their four children and five grandchildren. The outdoors, sports, horses, family and grandchildren are her hobbies.
Ann Burns has called Reno, Nevada home for the past 13 years. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Ann has lived all over the country chasing jobs in TV production but now happily lives in northern Nevada and doesn't see herself leaving anytime soon! Ann received her undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University and her Master's degree in Interactive Journalism from the University of Nevada. An Emmy award winning director, Ann began her career at KRNV right here in Reno. Moving up through the production ranks at KRNV was a labor of love and soon she headed up the Production Department at KRNV. That is right about the same time ESPN came calling and she moved to Bristol, Connecticut. After a few years at the World Wide Leader In Sports, Ann moved to Denver to help launch a brand new show, "Good Day Colorado." But the lure of returning to the Truckee Meadows led her to the Promotion Manager position at KTVN. Ann has happily enjoyed working with such talent as Wendy Damonte, Kristen Remington as well as Mike Alger. Building a brand and helping KTVN integrate into this wonderful community is a challenge that is both rewarding and fun. Outside of work Ann is a member of the Nevada Women's Fund board and enjoys photography, roasting coffee and of course, sports!
Terri Cooper is the Vice President of Sales for Switch and is responsible for sales in the Tahoe-Reno data center campus that opened in 2016.She has been with Switch for three years. Terri has spent her career in Information Technology with experience in application development, data center operations and outsourcing as well as business operations. She started her career at Accenture and has also worked at Level 3, Info Crossing, CSG International and Trace three in roles ranging from developer to EVP of Operations. Terri earned a B.S. (with Honors) in Economics from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. She and her Husband Mark have two children. Grace is a Junior at TMCC High School looking toward a career in the medical field. Spencer graduated high school in 2016 and is living at home and trying to determine what he wants as a career.
Danny DeLaRosa is Market Vice President for United Federal Credit Union in Nevada. He works to bring first class financial services to Northern Nevada. Danny is an advocate for economic development and passionate about providing the community with a partner to support individual and business growth. He recently moved to Nevada from Michigan. He is the Chairman for the Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Boys and Girl Club Board of Truckee Meadows. Danny has three children-Zias, Asher, and Amarissa-and is married to his high school sweetheart Emily.
Jaimie Bertelson-Dianda is a native Nevadan who graduated from the University of Nevada with her undergraduate degrees and Sierra Nevada College with her Masters. She has worked with children in one capacity or another for as long as she can remember starting with babysitting and eventually working to coaching and teaching in the classroom. Her community involvement has included the Step 2 Board of Directors and the Reno Rodeo Association. Her passion continues to be children: focusing on their overall health both physically and emotionally, while promoting the importance of ongoing education. She is excited to be working on the Advisory Committee as Renown continues to be the leading comprehensive health center and health advocate for the people of northern Nevada
Brady Dolan is the Dealer Principal at Dolan Toyota Reno. He was born and raised in Reno and attended University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he played baseball for the Bruins. Brady is an active community member and has helped Dolan Toyota raise thousands of dollars in support of local non-profits in the Reno area.
Scott Dunseath is the founder and owner or the Reno eNVy brand and store and now the Home Means Nevada Co. This company started in 2005 and creates and distributes Nevada themed apparel. Scott is very passionate about this community and downtown in particular, he has been on the board of the River Walk Merchants Association since 2010 and served as the past president. He also manages the Reno Tahoe Visitors Center located inside of Reno eNVy through a partnership with the City of Reno and the RSCVA.
Chuck Duarte has over thirty years of healthcare experience including: 15 years successfully leading state Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP); directing the state’s healthcare reform implementation initiatives; as well as, executive management experience in the non-profit healthcare sector. Experience includes: organizational change management; budget development and fiscal management; policy and program development in all areas of health coverage; implementation of management information systems; managed care contracting; staff supervision and management; development and implementation of federal revenue maximization initiatives; implementation of effective cost-savings initiatives; monitoring programs and processes against key productivity and quality goals; and leading cross-functional teams on major projects; service on numerous community-based boards and legislative work groups.
Joseph F. Dutra
Joseph F. Dutra, President and CEO of Kimmie Candy Company began his career as a farmer in Sacramento, California; transitioning into entrepreneurial ventures in the late 1980s. Soon after earning a BS in Plant and Soil Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Joe headed to Saudi Arabia where he worked as a senior agronomist for four years. Upon returning to the U.S., Joe changed gears, engaged his entrepreneurial spirit, and launched Westec Incorporated, an agricultural consulting business that has expanded into selling non-GMO seed internationally. In 2000, Joe switched gears again and tackled yet a new challenge—candy manufacturing. Initially, manufacturing in Korea, Joe brought this entire operation to Reno, in 2008, creating a state-of-the art, candy production facility. Joe is proud to be part of the Northern Nevada community, contributing to help it thrive wherever he can!
Scott Gescheider is the General Manager of Landscape Services at Moana Nursery. A veteran of the United States Navy he moved to Reno after his service commitment to work with his family and get an advanced degree at UNR. A past Chairman of the Board for the Better Business Bureau of Northern Nevada he participates in various associations throughout the region. He is husband to Deanna and father to Max five and Marissa four. Their family enjoys skiing, camping and team sports, especially soccer which he coaches.
Lisa Jansen is the Assistant Vice President of Community Relations for One Nevada Credit Union. She is a fourth generation Nevadan with a unique background in business and community involvement that is dedicated to her community. She has spent countless hours volunteering for community organizations, most recently, Rotary Club of Reno, Reno Rodeo, and 39 North Downtown revitalization group. She serves as a board member of the Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce and 39 North Downtown in Sparks. Lisa received her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada. Lisa enjoys spending her leisure time with her three crazy dogs, boating, and gardening.
Jennifer Krupp is a Commercial Real Estate Broker-Salesperson with the Johnson Group. Prior to joining the Johnson Group Jennifer had worked in healthcare since 2004. Jennifer has lived in Northern Nevada since 2002 and graduated from UNR with a degree in Biology and from Benedictine University with a Masters in Public Health and a Masters in Business Administration. She started her career in health care as a Certified Nurse Assistant, and has served on the Nevada State Board of Nursing. She has also served on the Boys and Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows as a member of the Young Leaders Committee and has served in various committees for the Reno Tahoe Young Professionals Network. Some of her other interests include hiking, distance running and spending time with her family.
Kristen Martini is a litigation Attorney with Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie. Kristen’s practice is focused primarily in Reno and Las Vegas, and she is also barred in California. After clerking for Nevada Supreme Court Justice James Hardesty, but prior to joining her current firm, Kristen worked for several years at Robison, Belaustegui, Sharp & Low. Kristen is a Nevada native, and received her degree in Pre-Law from UNR. In the past she volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada, and she recently became a co-organizer for fundraising events for the Children’s Heart Foundation. Kristen enjoys raising her two beautiful children, and spends time studying dance, cooking, and traveling.
Mel Minarik, PhD, is a lecturer at the School of Community Health Sciences and an Associate Professor at the UNR Medical School. She earned her PhD from UNR in 2008. She works both on campus and in the community creating professional development training for leadership and staff. In UNSOM, she works with faculty and students in an “Upstream Northern Nevada,” project, volunteering at the UNSOM Student Outreach Clinic and is a Curriculum Director for MS 2 students. She loves the outdoors and the Sierra, plays with her three standard poodles, and is an avid walker and basketball player.
Darrell Plummer is owner/broker of Sierra Nevada Properties. A fourth generation Nevadan, Darrell is a 1984 graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in business administration with a special emphasis in finance and a minor in economics. Fresh out of college, Darrell became a trust officer with First Interstate Bank of Nevada (now known as WellsFargo), and spends even years as the Director of Economic Development with Sierra Pacific Power (now NV Energy). He joined Coldwell Banker Plummer & Associates in 1995 and took over as broker/owner in January 2001. In 2013, the company became Sierra Nevada Properties with offices in Reno, Incline Village, and Fernley and over 80 real estate agents.
Patricia Richard holds a dual role as the President's Chief of Staff and the University's Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Nevada, Reno. She represents the President on the Nevada System of Higher Education's Ethnicity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the Hispanic Serving Institute Committee. Patricia also serves on the board of Western Industrial Nevada (WIN). Patricia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Master of Arts in Communication Studies.
Roberta Roth is the Communications Officer for the Nevada System of Higher Education, System Computing Services, reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Information Technology. A resident of northern Nevada for over 35 years, she is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno. Prior to her position with NSHE, Roberta had a successful 24 year career with IBM. Roberta also served on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross and was a representative on the NITOC and ITPOC, two of the Nevada Governor's IT over sight committees.
Sharon Usedom is retired after rewarding careers as a teacher, orchard is t and candy maker. She is on the Senior Care Plus Advisory Board. Her interests include Honor Flight Nevada and PEO for Scholarships. She ejoys world traveling, music entrepreneurship and cooking. Sharon is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and is married to Doug.
Kalani Vaka was born and raised in Sparks, Nevada where she attended Reed High School and then went on to play college basketball at the University of Evansville. She has been working for the Boys & Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows for ten years and is currently the Sports, Fitness and Recreation Coordinator. Kalani’s passion is to help the youth in our community improve their fitness, be active and practice healthy lifestyles.
Brian Williams is the Founder of Think Kindess, a local non-profit organization in Reno. Brian is on a mission to inspire crowds of Kindness Ninjas in schools across the country to ban together in solidarity to make a massive difference in the world. His infectious energy and positivity has earned him national media exposure on MTV, USA Today, & MSNBC. He has spoken to over 250,000 students across the country, collected over 300,000 pairs of shoes for needy children and families around the world, produced 2 award-winning humanitarian documentaries and has traveled to Kenya 9-times to carry out Global Acts of Kindness.
Vick Wowo is a Reno, Nevada native and attended the University of Nevada, Reno, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Renewable Energy. Professionally, Vick has a background in the Hospitality industry but has recently assumed the role of Operations Key Account Manager for the Microsoft Corporation. In this role, he works with Microsoft’s top accounts globally through strategic engagement to enhance partner profitability. Vick has been recognized internationally by Connect Association as a 40 under 40 award recipient, and a rising star by the NAACP Reno/Sparks Chapter. In addition to his career in tech, Vick currently serves as a Board of Director for various organizations within the State of Nevada. These boards include; the Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA), Governor Sandoval’s Workforce Development, the Reno-Tahoe Young Professionals Network, the University of Nevada, Reno Alumni Council, the College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board, the Nevada Young Alumni Chapter and the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority’s Community Outreach Committee.
Raymond Zavalla is the Business Development Manager for United Construction Company. Raymond’s role entails finding new business opportunities and developing relationships in commercial real estate and the supply chain industry throughout the country. He served over 12 years active duty as a Marine Corps Officer and several combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently Raymond is a Major in the Marine Corps Reserves in Concord, CA. Raymond earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State University and a Master’s Degree from George Washington University. He was selected as a NAIOP National Developing Leader and is a board member of NAIOP Northern Nevada. During his off time Raymond mentors a teenage boy for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada, and enjoys cycling and weight lifting.
