The Code of Professional Ethics outlines principles by which employees of Renown Health are asked to conduct themselves in the course of their employment. The Code has been adopted by the Renown Health Board of Directors to promote and protect the organization's integrity, facilitate legal compliance and support fulfillment of the organization's mission and vision.
Renown Health's Code of Professional Ethics principles are as follows:
- Consistent and appropriate treatment of employees is expected and valued.
- It is the responsibility of all employees to create and maintain a work environment characterized by trust, respect, and teamwork.
- Applicable legal regulations and standards are upheld.
Patient care and customer service are conducted in a manner which reflects commitment to service, quality, respect and confidentiality. The rights of patients, customers, clients, and health and insurance plan members are honored, and access to appropriate grievance procedures and bioethics committees is available as needed or requested.
Business practices reflect a high standard of ethics and integrity. The organization aggressively pursues its goals that all business activity is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Healthy and safe work environments are achieved through adherence to laws and regulations, and a commitment to perpetual quality improvement. Accident prevention is a responsibility shared by all employees.
Community relationships are valued, as exemplified through community involvement and feedback through various Renown Health boards, the Renown Health Membership, and formal and informal research activities. Marketing practices and contract negotiations are accurate and reflective of the organization's mission and vision. It is Renown Health's vision that this organization be recognized as a true and trusted community asset.

Policies and procedures which specifically support the principle for patient care include the following:
- Confidential patient information may not be disclosed to any unauthorized person.
- A commitment to quality and patient education is reflected in the delivery of care. Family members, friends and partners-in-care are considered in the decision making process.
- A procedure for addressing patient grievances or ethical concerns is available.
- Substantiating medical documentation must be provided for all patient care services rendered.
- Admissions, transfers and discharges are timely and appropriate, based on the patient's needs. Care is provided for emergency medical conditions without regard to ability to pay.
