In 2017, Renown received the Freedom Award from the U.S. Department of Defense. This is the highest national award given to employers who go above and beyond to provide support and flexibility to employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserves.
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve created the Freedom Award in 1996 to draw attention to employers that best support employees who serve. There have been more than 17,000 nominations Renown is one of only 235 employers to ever win the award.
Renown was a semifinalist for the Freedom Award in 2015.
Renown has also received ESGR Patriot Awards, Above and Beyond Awards and the state of Nevada’s highest employer honor, the Pro Patria Award.
In addition to supporting current military and veteran employees, Renown is committed to bringing new veterans on board.
As one of the first employers in Nevada to become a certified Green Zone Employer, Renown recruiters have trained to better understand the skill sets veterans come back home with after serving. This initiative by Governor Sandoval provides employers the skills necessary to translate military service to civilian work experience – easing the transition for veterans to find employment. Renown also assists service members when they return from full-time deployment to ensure an easy transition back to their jobs.
In December of 2014, Renown also entered a training affiliation agreement with the Nevada Air National Guard. This agreement allows various disciplines – including clinical engineering, cardiopulmonary technology, nursing and medical service corps – in the 152nd Medical Squadron to come to Renown facilities and train on procedures they’d normally have to travel great distances to see and perform.
