Position Purpose:

Under the general direction of the Trauma Services Coordinator this position receives source documents for data entry into the Trauma registry.  This position performs a variety of duties related to the retrieval and input of data from patient records.

Nature and Scope:

This position involves receiving chart abstraction documents, pre-hospital reports, and referring facility documents, and accurately entering them into a trauma data registry.  It requires the ability to work independently to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.  This position requires interaction with both internal and external customers and will be challenged to work within the Renown Regional Medical Center confidentiality guidelines.  This position handles confidential and sensitive data.  This position may also assist with secretarial support.


This position does not provide patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:  Requirements - Required and/or Preferred


Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.  The incumbent must have completed high school or equivalent.  They must have the ability to read medical and technical data, interpret information and follow instruction.


Requires a minimum of two years (2) computer experience, excellent communication skills, data processing skills, appropriate telephone manner and exceptional organizational skills.  Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and medical terminology required.





Computer / Typing:

Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
