What is Hematology and Oncology?
Hematology refers to the study, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology refers to the area of medicine concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and study of cancer. Our Pediatric Hematology and Oncology team is available to help patients with the following conditions (among others):
- Sickle Cell Anemia
- Beta and Alpha Thalassemia
- Iron Deficiency Anemia
- Immune thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)
- von Willebrand Disease (vWD)
- Blood clots
- Leukemia (acute and chronic)
- Lymphomas (Hodgkin disease and non-Hodgkin lymphoma)
- Wilms Tumor
- Solid Tumors of Muscle or bone
Consultations are provided in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Referrals are required for consultations.
