Three out of four car seats are installed incorrectly. The No. 1 cause of death for children under the age of 14 is motor vehicle crashes. There is a way to protect your children. The Northern Nevada Child Passenger Safety Seat Fitting Station is the region's first full-time facility to offer child vehicle safety restraint education, inspection and installation.
The Fitting Station is operated through a partnership with Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA), Renown Children's Hospital and Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.
Nevada state law requires those children less than 6 years of age and weighing 60 pounds or less to be secured in an appropriate child restraint system while being transported in a motor vehicle.
The Northern Nevada Fitting Station does require appointments.
To make an appointment, please call 775-815-0981.
If you are pregnant, we recommend you make an appointment at least two weeks prior to your due date. If your child is advancing to a larger seat or if you have purchased a new car seat, please call for an appointment as soon as possible. Appointments are approximately 30 minutes.
Yes. The cost of installation and education is $25. Car seats can also be purchased from the program.
