Preparing for Your Visit
It’s normal to be nervous about a visit to the hospital. But if your child knows what to expect, they’ll feel less anxious. Talk to your child and reassure them that you (or another parent or guardian) will be with them throughout the visit.
Make sure you bring your insurance card and any orders from your child’s physician. Take time before your visit to learn how to get to the hospital, where to park and where to go once you get here.
Your Care Team

What to Expect on Your Visit the Children’s ER
You’ll meet the ER doctor in a children’s treatment room. The doctor will ask more questions and perform another exam. The doctor will talk to you about the illness or injury, and may need to take some lab tests. These usually include blood or urine samples, X-rays or CT scans.
If the doctor ordered tests, he or she will review the results, and then meet with you again to discuss them.
