Advanced Vascular Screening — $179
The advanced vascular screening program is designed to detect the risk of heart disease, aneurysm and stroke, and help patients make important lifestyle changes proven to reduce risk.
A screening includes the following tests:
- Ultrasound of the carotid arteries — those that supply blood to the head and neck — to detect plaque buildup, a common cause of stroke
- Ultrasound of the abdominal aorta to check for aneurysm and a risk of rupture
- Test for peripheral artery disease, a buildup of fatty deposits in the lining of the arteries in the legs
- A test to determine the patient's “Vascular Age.” This test measures the carotid artery wall to determine if the thickness is normal. To complete the vascular age test, patients must have their current lipid profile test results with them at the time of the appointment.
The screening takes 45 minutes to an hour to complete and patients receive preliminary test results to share with their physician. A final report is sent to the physician as well.
