World-Class Stroke Care
The Stroke Center at Renown Institute for Neurosciences is the first in Nevada to earn the Gold Seal of Approval for stroke care. As the first stroke center in northern Nevada to be designated as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission, patients have access to life-saving treatments and world-class stroke care right here, close to home. Renown Institute for Neurosciences received re-certification by The Joint Commission in March 2008.
Get with the Guidelines SM-Stroke (GWTG) Gold Plus, Gold, Silver and Bronze Achievement Award
The first hospital in northern Nevada to be awarded with this distinguished honor, these awards recognize Renown Regional's commitment to and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care. They ensure stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations. These awards also acknowledge that Renown Regional has developed a comprehensive system for rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients admitted to the emergency room. This includes the ability, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide brain imaging scans, have neurologists available to conduct patient evaluations and using clot-busting medications when appropriate.
Bronze Achievement Award
Awarded March 19, 2008 for maintaining a superior level of stroke care for a period of 90 consecutive days (September 2007- November 2007).
Silver Achievement Award
Awarded November 19, 2008 for maintaining a superior level of stroke care for a period of 12 consecutive months (November 2007- October 2008)
Gold Plus Achievement Award
Awarded in October 2009 for maintaining two or more consecutive 12 month intervals achieving top compliance scores with six of 10 Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality measures.
Gold Quality Achievement Award
Awarded in November 2010 for a demonstrated 85% adherence in the Get With The Guidelines-Stroke key measures for 24 or more consecutive months.
The Institute for Neurosciences' EEG Laboratory is accredited by the Laboratory Accreditation Board of ABRET; accreditation means the EEG Laboratory met strict standards and is recognized as a place where patients and physicians can have confidence they are receiving quality diagnostics. ABRET (American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists) is the credentialing board for EEG, Evoked Potential, and Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring Technologists.
