Awe-inspiring Nature Walk: August 23rd at Oxbow

The Nevada Department of Wildlife is providing educational field trips throughout our diverse habitats for Sterling Silver Club members. Due to popular demand, we are hosting this guided nature walk at Oxbow Nature Study Area, located along the Truckee River. The nature trail is approximately one mile long, with plenty of opportunities to sit on benches and view wildlife within the Study Area’s 22 acres. RSVP required as space and parking is limited. Register on this page, or call 775-982-7787 for assistance. Attendees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Please wear sturdy shoes for the uneven surfaces and dirt path. Gentle Chair Yoga with Lee Ann Maynard

Meet our newest yoga instructor for our Wednesday Wellness Yoga series, Lee Ann Maynard who is teaching Sterling Silver Club members Gentle Chair Yoga every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 4-5 p.m.. Experience the benefits of yoga without having to get onto the floor. This class is held virtual or in-person (limited space), and is perfect for those with limited mobility due to injury, recovery from surgery, arthritis, general stiffness and more. By incorporating gentle movement, breathing exercises and meditation techniques, you can build strength and flexibility. No yoga experience is necessary. Students will only need a stable chair (no wheels or armrests) if practicing from home. Chairs are provided for in-person attendees. RSVP required. Choose from in-person or virtual: Virtual Instructions: Once you register, we’ll email the Zoom link. The Zoom link will be the same each week with reminder emails two days before class. The Silver Plate Cooking series is dedicated to providing a fun class, filled with opportunities to learn how to improve and maintain our health through nutrition. This class now takes place in-person and virtual. Attend and learn from Andria Herron, Dietary Educator with Renown Healthy Heart Program who will show us how to make healthy and satisfying meals each month. The recipe will be emailed out before the event so you can choose to cook along side with us if you are watching from home. RSVP required at the top of this page. Choose from in-person or virtual. This workshop is focused on understanding and completing a Nevada Durable Power of Attorney of Healthcare, also known as an Advance Directive. What to expect: A brief presentation about the document, its contents and purpose. Time for questions. Staff will be on hand to assist with document completion. Notary will be present for notarization. Participants may have their document uploaded into their Renown electronic medical record and/or submitted to the Nevada Living Will Lockbox on their behalf. Please come prepared with; names, addresses and phone numbers of those you want to appoint in the document and a photo ID if notarization is desired. All required paperwork will be provided by our staff. There is no charge to attend this workshop, and please wear a mask.
