Prepare for surgery, including home setup, preoperative and pre-admit appointments. Know about your hospital stay, including infection prevention, early mobility, physical and occupational therapy, and adaptive equipment. Learn what happens after surgery, including recovery, medical management, post-operative therapy and exercises, to help you return to your normal activities. Classes are facilitated by an oncology nurse navigator, social worker, and surgical nurses. In this class you will: • Meet your navigator and learn about cancer support services available to you • Hear about pre-surgery instructions and your pre-admit appointment • Receive education in prehabilitation and lymphedema prevention • Have your questions answered about treatment, including chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy and clinical trials Video enabled attendance is available. This class is for anyone who has undergone or is currently undergoing breast cancer treatment. The class focuses on educating patients on lymphedema and ways to reduce the risk of its occurrence. During the class, we will review the basic anatomy of the lymphatic system and describe common procedures performed during the treatment course for breast cancer that affects lymphatics. Prevention strategies, including compression sleeves, will be reviewed in addition to the typical presentation of early lymphedema. Additionally, a brief description of Axillary Web Syndrome will be reviewed, and basic stretches/exercises to implement if cording is present.

Join us for our free virtual Smoking Cessation 4-week program courtesy of Renown Health. This class is available to all who want to learn the risks of smoking and the benefits of quitting. In addition, participants will learn about their triggers to smoking, ways to cope while quitting, and available products to assist with becoming tobacco-free. This program begins on the 1st Wednesday of each month and will meet every Wednesday for four weeks from 4 to 5 p.m. Upon registering, you will receive instructions on virtually connecting 1 day before the class.
