Renown Institute for Cancer offers one-hour weekly classes to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families. Classes are facilitated by an oncology nurse navigator, social worker, and surgical nurses. In this class you will: • Meet your navigator and learn about cancer support services available to you • Hear about pre-surgery instructions and your pre-admit appointment • Receive education in prehabilitation and lymphedema prevention • Have your questions answered about treatment, including chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy and clinical trials Video enabled attendance is available. Patients can access remotely and join from any video-enabled device (smart phone, iPad, laptop or webcam/desktop). Upon registering, you will receive instructions on how to virtually connect. Please note: Masks are required to enter the hospital and while navigating to and from your class. Once inside your classroom, masks will be optional to wear during your class.

Would you please join us for Renown Health’s free one-hour virtual class for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) education? Our goal is to give you the knowledge to better manage your COPD by increasing your understanding of the disease process, medications and how to use them and creating an action plan you can use every day. This program is offered on the 4th Wednesday of each month and will meet from 3 to 4 p.m. Upon registering, you will receive instructions on virtually connecting 1-2 days before the class.

This class is designed for expectant parents to gain knowledge on current research and recommendations, which promote necessary infant health, wellness and safety. Parents-to-be will learn how to care for their newborn, including bathing, diapering, cord care, signs of illness, nutrition, feeding, infant safety, understanding newborn behavior along with growth and development. Designed for busy parents, this all-in-one-day Childbirth Education Course will help prepare mom and her partner for the many aspects of childbirth. You’ll learn the many facets of delivery, with the opportunity to ask questions helping you make informed decisions about critical issues surrounding your baby’s birth. Some topics include: Healthy developments in your pregnancy Stages of labor Warning signs Breathing and relaxation techniques Comfort measures Role of the support person and labor support Birth planning How to tell when you are in labor Pain relief options during labor/medical procedures How a birth doula can help Cesarean birth and Postpartum All of our instructors are certified educators who will offer you support and guidance through education in a unique way to meet your individual needs. We believe that childbirth is a process, not a method, and we recognize that there is no one right way to give birth. * Note: This class will not include a Baby and Family Suites Tour. The American Heart Association Family & Friends “Infant CPR and Choking” (birth to one year) course is for those who want to learn infant CPR but do NOT need a course completion card in CPR for their job. This course is ideal for schools and students, new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested in learning how to save a life. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven “practice-while-watching” technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible. Join us for our free virtual Smoking Cessation 4-week program courtesy of Renown Health. This class is available to all who want to learn the risks of smoking and the benefits of quitting. In addition, participants will learn about their triggers to smoking, ways to cope while quitting, and available products to assist with becoming tobacco-free.
