Please note: This class is a 2 in 1 class that includes the Newborn Care Class and Breastfeeding Basics and Beyond. The morning portion of this class will include breastfeeding benefits and techniques, the physiology of making milk, positioning and latch, how to know baby is getting enough milk, keeping up your milk supply, where to go for help, learn about our lactation consultants and breastfeeding forums. Pump rentals and a visit to our Lactation Connection resource center are also included in this class. The afternoon segment of this class will cover newborn appearances and behavior, daily care of the newborn, signs of illness, and when to call the doctor. Tummy time, comfort and soothing techniques, how to keep your baby safe, newborn screenings and vaccinations will also be discussed. Partners are encouraged to attend. A 30 minute lunch break is included in this class. Please Note: All attendees must wear an appropriate face mask for the duration of the class. Renown Institute for Cancer is teaming up with Renie Anderson, a trained and certified expert in cancer treatment side effect management. Attend this virtual workshop and learn mind-body techniques to help with reducing anxiety, feeling calmer, visualizing your treatment in a healing way and enhancing healing through activities that will bring you relief. This workshop includes: Helping patients feel more connected.  Helping to reduce fight/flight response and helping patients feel more at ease. Explaining how stress impacts our bodies and our role in taking responsibility as a partner in recovery. A mindfulness relaxation session. Giving patients the opportunity to express concerns over their side effects and re-framing that they can have a different experience. Open time for questions and answers. Joint pain can affect all aspects of life, so if you’re considering total joint replacement surgery, these classes taught by the experts at Renown Health will help you with the following: Understand your procedure, including basic anatomy and explanation of surgical intervention. Prepare for surgery, including home setup, preoperative and pre-admit appointments. Know about your hospital stay, including infection prevention, early mobility, physical and occupational therapy, and adaptive equipment. Learn what happens after surgery, including recovery, medical management, post-operative therapy and exercises, to help you return to your normal activities. We highly encourage you to bring a “surgery buddy” for support.

Facilitated by a prostate cancer survivor, this support group is designed to help men cope with prostate cancer by offering education and support for patients during their cancer journey. All women have different postpartum and recovery experiences after giving birth. This 2-hour class helps prepare mom and partner on what to expect after birth and the weeks to follow, and is offered every other month and is open to mothers and their partners. A few topics discussed in this class are: Postpartum care in the hospital Changes after birth Caring for yourself during postpartum The difference between postpartum blues and postpartum depression Mothers warning signs Adjustments once you get home The new father or partner Please Note: All attendees must wear an appropriate face mask for the duration of the class.

Renown Institute for Cancer offers one-hour weekly classes to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families. Classes are facilitated by an oncology nurse navigator, social worker, physical therapist and surgical nurses. In this class you will: • Meet your navigator and learn about cancer support services available to you • Hear about pre-surgery instructions and your pre-admit appointment • Receive education in prehabilitation and lymphedema prevention • Have your questions answered about treatment, including chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy and clinical trials Video enabled attendance is available. This 7 week childbirth preparation, which also includes preparing for postpartum, infant care and breastfeeding education, meets for seven consecutive weeks.  This class will help prepare mom and her partner for the many aspects of childbirth and beyond.  This class is designed to provide you with a great forum to ask lots of questions and to help you make informed decisions about key issues surrounding your baby’s birth. Weeks 1-5 will include topics such as: Healthy developments in your pregnancy Stages of labor Warning signs Breathing and relaxation techniques Comfort measures Role of the support person and labor support Birth planning How to tell when you are in labor Pain relief options during labor/medical procedures How a birth doula can help Cesarean birth Week 6: During the Newborn Care segment, newborn appearances and behavior, daily care of the newborn, signs of illness, and when to call the doctor will be covered.  Tummy time, comfort and soothing techniques, how to keep your baby safe, newborn screenings and vaccinations will also be discussed. All of our instructors are certified educators who will offer you support and guidance through education in a very unique way that will meet your individual needs. In this class you will learn about breastfeeding your baby using recommendations from health organizations across the globe. We recommend that all first-time parents take this in-depth class to help mothers get off to a better start with breastfeeding. Topics include the benefits of breastfeeding, breast anatomy, feeding cues, establishing a good latch, nursing positions, ways for partners to support and be involved in breastfeeding, breast pumping and breast milk storage, breastfeeding tips and available breastfeeding supplies and resources. It also touches on how to know if your baby is getting enough milk and when and where to get help if needed. Class instructor is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
