Every Friday, the Spiritual Care team leads a brief devotional for prayers and intercessions for those who have requested support. All the prayer partners are invited to participate! Please note: This class is a 2 in 1 class that includes the Newborn Care Class and Breastfeeding Basics and Beyond. The morning portion of this class will include breastfeeding benefits and techniques, the physiology of making milk, positioning and latch, how to know baby is getting enough milk, keeping up your milk supply, where to go for help, learn about our lactation consultants and breastfeeding forums. Pump rentals and a visit to our Lactation Connection resource center are also included in this class. The afternoon segment of this class will cover newborn appearances and behavior, daily care of the newborn, signs of illness, and when to call the doctor. Tummy time, comfort and soothing techniques, how to keep your baby safe, newborn screenings and vaccinations will also be discussed. Partners are encouraged to attend. A 30 minute lunch break is included in this class. Please Note: All attendees must wear an appropriate face mask for the duration of the class. Support groups create a private, safe and supportive environment (or community) and allow participants to develop informal mutual support and social relationships. They also educate and inform participants about dementia and help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems. This class is designed for expectant parents to gain knowledge on current research and recommendations, which promote necessary infant health, wellness and safety. This class helps prepare parents for emergencies that may occur in baby’s first year. Along with car seat safety and basic baby proofing, discussion will include prevention and treatment of common injuries. Students will also learn and practice the skills necessary to perform infant CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), as well as the skills necessary to assist a choking infant. The American Heart Association Family & Friends “Infant CPR and Choking” (birth to one year) course is for those who want to learn Infant CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job. Grandparents and other caregivers are welcome to attend. This class covers the following topics: Car seat safety education Safe sleep Baby proofing your home Basic first aid Infant CPR & Choking Please Note: All attendees MUST wear an appropriate face mask for the duration of the class.

For Catholics, the Mass is a memorial of Christ’s suffering, death and resurrection. It is a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God, a blessing by which the Church expresses its gratitude to God for all God’s beneficence. In the Mass, the bread and wine become the “Body and Blood of Christ” — food for the body and the soul. By celebrating the Holy Eucharist on the first Friday of the month, the Catholic Community offers a blessing to remind Catholics of God’s continual and abiding presence in sickness, health, joy and pain. “God is always with us. God comes to be with us, and we come to be with God in the Holy Mass. God meets us where we are, and God is present in the bread and wine, in the scripture we read and hear, and in the community gathered together. Through the Holy Mass, we become one body, one family, one community. First Friday devotion aims to honor and recognize the Sacred Heart of Jesus, whose love of humanity is rich, genuine, holy, and everlasting.” – Fr. This informative class outlines ways grandparents can offer support and assistance to a new family while discussing current birth practices and infant care trends.
