Renown Spiritual Center offers free weekly yoga classes at home for Sterling Silver Club members or anyone on their wellness journey. Lead by mother-daughter duo Liz and Cadye; you’ll discover the benefits of yoga, such as improved mobility, balance, strength, and mood, with modified movements for all abilities. All yoga skill levels are welcome! Note: Please submit the below registration/consent form for the date you would like to start attending yoga. You will only need to register one time to attend this weekly class. Once you register, we will email the Zoom link each Friday before class. Join this weekly free virtual Meditation for Pregnancy & Birth Class. Pregnancy can be an emotional time especially during this unprecedented time, Come and connect with other women who are pregnant and learn the basics of meditation and learn the skills to help decrease stress, and learn how to breathe and relax through labor contractions. Being mindful and practicing meditation also will help to increase positive emotions during pregnancy. The goal of this class is to increase your sense of well-being during pregnancy & birth, and to connect with your unborn baby. Class is taught by one of our parent educators/meditation instructor. There is no cost to attend. Please register under the expecting mother’s name and information.

Mindfulness Meditation class at Renown with Schauntelle Puliti: Discover stillness and learn to use meditation as a powerful tool and benefits for the body, mind, and spirit! Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet, it is a way of entering into the quiet that is already there. This class will help you: • Reduce stress • Enhance creativity • Discover mindfulness, breath, and body awareness • Create inner peace and connect to your spirit • Improve relationships • Awaken your intuition Here are a few tips that will enhance anyone’s experience in attending a virtual meditation: Take a seat. Find a place to sit that feels calm and quiet to you. There is no “right” way to sit, get comfortable, and sit. If you choose, you can also lay down. If you’re in a busy space, use headphones to listen to the meditation, so you don’t disturb anyone around you. For meditation purposes, don’t get caught up in the “how.” There’s no way to shut off all thoughts or emotions. That is not the goal of meditation. Instead, we notice thoughts and feelings as they arise and observe them with a non-judgmental and loving attitude. You then redirect your attention back to the point of focus, which is often the breath. This process may happen a hundred times over in one session, and that’s okay! Don’t worry too much that you’re doing it wrong. There is nothing perfect about meditation. Commit yourself for at least a month. Don’t just say, “Sure, I’ll try this for a couple of days.” Close with kindness. Once the meditation has ended, check-in with yourself. Notice how your body feels, your thoughts and emotions. Take a moment to thank yourself for taking the time out of your day to rest in your own space, allowing yourself to relax. Meet our newest yoga instructor for our Wednesday Wellness Yoga series, Lee Ann Maynard who is teaching Sterling Silver Club members Gentle Chair Yoga every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 4-5 p.m.. Experience the benefits of yoga without having to get onto the floor. This class is held virtual or in-person (limited space), and is perfect for those with limited mobility due to injury, recovery from surgery, arthritis, general stiffness and more. By incorporating gentle movement, breathing exercises and meditation techniques, you can build strength and flexibility. No yoga experience is necessary. Students will only need a stable chair (no wheels or armrests) if practicing from home. Chairs are provided for in-person attendees. RSVP required below. The Sterling Silver Club presents complimentary tickets to a Sunday Jazz Concert at the Reno Little Theater. As a valued club member, you and a guest will get to enjoy an evening of unforgettable live music. Seating will be assigned based on first-come first-serve arrival. Reno Little Theater’s Health and Safety Protocols for Attending: MASKS ARE REQUIRED. In accordance with the Governor’s Emergency Directive 047, performers will not be masked on stage; however, all others must wear a mask unless actively eating or drinking, regardless of vaccination status. PATRONS MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED with an FDA or WHO authorized vaccine in order to attend a show and must show proof of vaccination at their time of entry into the theatre with their valid ticket. (A photo of your vaccination card is accepted. if you do not have the original.) In addition to proof of vaccination, all guests 18 years or older must also present a government or school-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport. RSVP is required and space is limited.  About the musicians: Dallas Smith is a woodwinds master who is a skilled performer of Western classical and jazz styles, as well as being a disciple of Ali Akbar Khan and G. S. Sachdev in Hindustani classical music. His instruments include silver flute, clarinet, saxophones, Electric Wind Instrument (EWI), and bansuri. Dallas is an active jazz musician, performing around the US, having toured with pianist Ahmad Jamal, as well as with his wife, renowned jazz harpist Susan Mazer.  Dallas is a decade-long member of the Reno Jazz Orchestra (of which he serves currently as president of the RJO Board of Directors). Susan E. Mazer, Ph.D. is recognized as one of the world’s outstanding jazz harpists. Susan has a long performing career, ranging from playing with the Detroit Symphony under the batons of world-renowned conductors to performing as a soloist at Harrah’s in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, where she held a solo position for over 15 years. She has also performed with jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal at the Village Vanguard club in New York City, with Natalie Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Frank Sinatra, Jr., as well as other well-known musicians. After many years of classical performance, including two degrees in music, Susan chose to move into jazz and world music. In addition, Susan is a pioneer in the development of and performance on an Electro-acoustic harp. Together, Susan and Dallas founded Healing Healthcare Systems, Inc., the world’s largest producer of relaxation media for hospitals, called the C.A.R.E. Channel. Founded in 1992,  The C.A.R.E. Channel is a 24-hour television channel, which is broadcast in over a thousand hospitals in the US and internationally.

All women have different postpartum and recovery experiences after giving birth. The purpose of this class is to help prepare mom and partner on what to expect after birth and the weeks to follow. This 2-hour class is offered every other month, and is open to mothers and their partner. A few topics discussed in this class are: •Postpartum care in the hospital •Changes after birth •Caring for yourself during postpartum •The difference between postpartum blues and postpartum depression •Mothers warning signs •Adjustments once you get home •The new father or partner

There’s no better way to celebrate the holidays than with giving back together. Dust off your favorite sweater (funny or festive) and join us for an unforgettable party. Sterling Silver Club members and Renown Volunteers are invited to this event. This year we are celebrating the things we’re grateful for while helping those who could use a little pick-me-up! This holiday event will be filled with food, drinks and fun activities. One activity includes decorating holiday cards for community members who are spending their holiday in the hospital. A local artist will be in attendance to help guide the festive card making because who doesn’t love a little help from a professional.  Join us in this simple act of kindness while enjoying some time together this holiday. Entertainment, food and fun are boundless, so dress in your festive best, and let’s celebrate all that we’re grateful for! RSVP is required and space is limited. Masks and vaccine cards are also required to attend. We’re also offering virtual attendance for those not able or comfortable with joining us in-person.
