Designed for busy parents, this all-in-one-day Childbirth Education Course will help prepare mom and her partner for the many aspects of childbirth. You’ll learn the many facets of delivery, with the opportunity to ask questions helping you make informed decisions about critical issues surrounding your baby’s birth. Some topics include: Healthy developments in your pregnancy Stages of labor Warning signs Breathing and relaxation techniques Comfort measures Role of the support person and labor support Birth planning How to tell when you are in labor Pain relief options during labor/medical procedures How a birth doula can help Cesarean birth and Postpartum All of our instructors are certified educators who will offer you support and guidance through education in a unique way to meet your individual needs. We believe that childbirth is a process, not a method, and we recognize that there is no one right way to give birth. * Note: This class will not include a Baby and Family Suites Tour. Renown Spiritual Center offers free weekly yoga classes at home for Sterling Silver Club members or anyone on their wellness journey. Lead by mother-daughter duo Liz and Cadye; you’ll discover the benefits of yoga, such as improved mobility, balance, strength, and mood, with modified movements for all abilities. All yoga skill levels are welcome! Note: Please submit the below registration/consent form for the date you would like to start attending yoga. Renown Institute for Cancer is teaming up with Renie Anderson, a trained and certified expert in cancer treatment side effect management. Attend this virtual workshop and learn mind-body techniques to help with reducing anxiety, feeling calmer, visualizing your treatment in a healing way and enhancing healing through activities that will bring you relief. This workshop includes: Helping patients feel more connected.  Helping to reduce fight/flight response and helping patients feel more at ease. Explaining how stress impacts our bodies and our role in taking responsibility as a partner in recovery. A mindfulness relaxation session. Giving patients the opportunity to express concerns over their side effects and reframing that they can have a different experience. Open time for questions and answers. Renown Institute for Cancer offers one-hour weekly classes to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families. Classes are facilitated by an oncology nurse navigator, social worker, physical therapist and surgical nurses. In this class you will: • Meet your navigator and learn about cancer support services available to you • Hear about pre-surgery instructions and your pre-admit appointment • Receive education in prehabilitation and lymphedema prevention • Have your questions answered about treatment, including chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy and clinical trials Video enabled attendance is available. Patients can access remotely and join from any video-enabled device (smart phone, iPad, laptop or webcam/desktop). Upon registering, you will receive instructions on how to virtually connect.

This 7 week childbirth preparation, which also includes preparing for postpartum, infant care and breastfeeding education, meets for seven consecutive weeks.  This class will help prepare mom and her partner for the many aspects of childbirth and beyond.  This class is designed to provide you with a great forum to ask lots of questions and to help you make informed decisions about key issues surrounding your baby’s birth. Weeks 1-5 will include topics such as: Healthy developments in your pregnancy Stages of labor Warning signs Breathing and relaxation techniques Comfort measures Role of the support person and labor support Birth planning How to tell when you are in labor Pain relief options during labor/medical procedures How a birth doula can help Cesarean birth Week 6: During the Newborn Care segment, newborn appearances and behavior, daily care of the newborn, signs of illness, and when to call the doctor will be covered.  Tummy time, comfort and soothing techniques, how to keep your baby safe, newborn screenings and vaccinations will also be discussed. Week 7:  You will learn breastfeeding benefits and techniques, the physiology of making milk, positioning and latch, how to know baby is getting enough milk, keeping up your milk supply, where to go for help, learn about our lactation consultants and breastfeeding forums.  Pump rentals, and a visit to our Lactation Connection resource center is also included in this class. Would you please join us for Renown Health’s free one-hour virtual class for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) education? Our goal is to give you the knowledge to better manage your COPD by increasing your understanding of the disease process, medications and how to use them and creating an action plan you can use every day. This program is offered on the 4th Wednesday of each month and will meet from 3 to 4 p.m. Upon registering, you will receive instructions on virtually connecting 1-2 days before the class.

Meet our newest yoga instructor for our Wednesday Wellness Yoga series, Lee Ann Maynard who is teaching Sterling Silver Club members Gentle Chair Yoga every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 4-5 p.m.. Experience the benefits of yoga without having to get onto the floor. This class is held virtual or in-person (limited space), and is perfect for those with limited mobility due to injury, recovery from surgery, arthritis, general stiffness and more. By incorporating gentle movement, breathing exercises and meditation techniques, you can build strength and flexibility. No yoga experience is necessary. Students will only need a stable chair (no wheels or armrests) if practicing from home. Chairs are provided for in-person attendees. RSVP required.
