Renown Spiritual Center offers free weekly yoga classes at home for Sterling Silver Club members or anyone on their wellness journey. Lead by mother-daughter duo Liz and Cadye; you’ll discover the benefits of yoga, such as improved mobility, balance, strength, and mood, with modified movements for all abilities. All yoga skill levels are welcome! Note: Please submit the below registration/consent form for the date you would like to start attending yoga. You will only need to register one time to attend this weekly class. Once you register, we will email the Zoom link each Friday before class. For assistance or questions, please call 775-982-7787. You will receive the event zoom link once you RSVP. Please note: You must RSVP by 9:30am on the day of the class to receive the zoom link. Cancer Support Virtual Workshop 1: Mind-Body Techniques to Lessen Side Effects of Chemotherapy

Renown Institute for Cancer is teaming up with Renie Anderson, a trained and certified expert in cancer treatment side effect management. Attend this virtual workshop and learn mind-body techniques to help with reducing anxiety, feeling calmer, visualizing your treatment in a healing way and enhancing healing through activities that will bring you relief. This workshop includes: Helping patients feel more connected. Helping to reduce fight/flight response and helping patients feel more at ease. Explaining how stress impacts our bodies and our role in taking responsibility as a partner in recovery. A mindfulness relaxation session. Giving patients the opportunity to express concerns over their side effects and re-framing that they can have a different experience. Open time for questions and answers. Join us on a tour led by a childbirth educator to learn more about our luxurious Baby & Family Suites, labor and delivery rooms housed in the new Labor Assessment Area, and the William N. Pennington Nursery. We’ll cover the pre-admission process, how to check in, and what to expect during your visit. There is no cost to attend. Please note: Please include children in your ticket counts. Masks must be worn during the entire tour and 6-foot social distancing will be required for all participants not from the same household. Renown Institute for Cancer offers one-hour weekly classes to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families. Classes are facilitated by an oncology nurse navigator, social worker, physical therapist and surgical nurses. In this class you will: • Meet your navigator and learn about cancer support services available to you • Hear about pre-surgery instructions and your pre-admit appointment • Receive education in prehabilitation and lymphedema prevention • Have your questions answered about treatment, including chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy and clinical trials Video enabled attendance is available. Patients can access remotely and join from any video-enabled device (smart phone, iPad, laptop or webcam/desktop). Upon registering, you will receive instructions on how to virtually connect.

Shelley Fisher of Reno Buddhist Center Find peace, healing and calm during the Mantras and Meditation practice session. Participants will chant healing mantras and find some peace in their day with a short meditation. Employees, patients and their loved ones are invited and all levels of meditation practitioners are welcome. Rev. Shelley Fisher is a resident priest at the Reno Buddhist Center. She has been chanting and meditating for many years and is excited to share this beautiful practice with the wider community through Renown Health’s Spiritual Center. Meet our newest yoga instructor for our Wednesday Wellness Yoga series, Katie Louvat who is teaching Sterling Silver Club members Intermediate and Beginning Yoga every 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesday from 4-5 p.m. Intermediate Yoga is a friendly, and meditative practice designed to develop flexibility and strength, and to deepen your awareness of body, mind and breath. This class reflects the instructor’s fascination with anatomy and bio-mechanics and her commitment to teaching movement that is accessible, functional, compassionate and sustainable. Required props: yoga mat, two blocks, a blanket or two, a strap or tie, a ball for self-massage (pinky balls or tennis balls work well). The Yoga Center provides props for in-person students. Students are welcome to bring their own to the studio if that feels more comfortable. RSVP required. Choose from in-person or virtual: Virtual Instructions: Once you register, we’ll email the Zoom link. The Zoom link will be the same each week with reminder emails two days before class. We continue to send out prayer requests from patients and family as they are received by email to the Renown Health Prayer Partners. Every Friday, the Spiritual Care team leads a brief devotional for prayers and intercessions for those who have requested support. All the prayer partners are invited to participate! While we use the word “prayer” for the custom of interceding on behalf of others for their health, please know that participation is not restricted to any one faith or tradition or to any one manner or method. Each person, according to their own personal belief or practice, may be part of the process of sharing words and thoughts as they ask for healing. Designed for busy parents, this all-in-one-day Childbirth Education Course will help prepare mom and her partner for the many aspects of childbirth. You’ll learn the many facets of delivery, with the opportunity to ask questions helping you make informed decisions about critical issues surrounding your baby’s birth. Some topics include: Healthy developments in your pregnancy Stages of labor Warning signs Breathing and relaxation techniques Comfort measures Role of the support person and labor support Birth planning How to tell when you are in labor Pain relief options during labor/medical procedures How a birth doula can help Cesarean birth and Postpartum All of our instructors are certified educators who will offer you support and guidance through education in a unique way to meet your individual needs.
