Every third Wednesday of the month from 11:15-11:45 a.m. Estelle J. Kelsey Interfaith Sanctuary – Spiritual Center ◦ Renown Regional Medical Center Facilitated by: Rev. Shelley Fisher of Reno Buddhist Center Find peace, healing and calm during the Mantras and Meditation practice session. Participants will chant healing mantras and find some peace in their day with a short meditation. Employees, patients and their loved ones are invited and all levels of meditation practitioners are welcome. Rev. Shelley Fisher is a resident priest at the Reno Buddhist Center. She has been chanting and meditating for many years and is excited to share this beautiful practice with the wider community through Renown Health’s Spiritual Center. Joining the Meditation Group: You are now able to attend in-person and no RSVP is required to attend. The Spiritual Center is located on the 1st Floor of the Sierra Tower on the right past the elevators that are near the gift shop. This class helps prepare parents for emergencies that may occur in baby’s first year. Along with car seat safety and basic baby proofing, discussion will include prevention and treatment of common injuries. Students will also learn and practice the skills necessary to perform infant CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), as well as the skills necessary to assist a choking infant. The American Heart Association Family & Friends “Infant CPR and Choking” (birth to one year) course is for those who want to learn Infant CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job. Grandparents and other caregivers are welcome to attend. Nurturing Your Newborn Class

Please note: This class is a 2 in 1 class that includes the Newborn Care Class and Breastfeeding Basics and Beyond. The morning portion of this class will include breastfeeding benefits and techniques, the physiology of making milk, positioning and latch, how to know baby is getting enough milk, keeping up your milk supply, where to go for help, learn about our lactation consultants and breastfeeding forums. Pump rentals and a visit to our Lactation Connection resource center are also included in this class. The afternoon segment of this class will cover newborn appearances and behavior, daily care of the newborn, signs of illness, and when to call the doctor. Tummy time, comfort and soothing techniques, how to keep your baby safe, newborn screenings and vaccinations will also be discussed. Partners are encouraged to attend. A 30 minute lunch break is included in this class. Please Note: All attendees must wear an appropriate face mask for the duration of the class. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven “practice-while-watching” technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.
