Dr. Slonim’s notable career spans complex healthcare systems from the federal government to the private sector, academic medicine and public health. He’s developed a national profile as an expert in patient safety, accountable care and healthcare quality.

Recognized as a national thought leader, a highly-sought after speaker on healthcare trends and leadership development, a Six Sigma Black Belt and a 2-time TEDx speaker, Modern Healthcare has named Dr. Slonim one of the “50 Most Influential Clinical Executives" for 2019. He has also been listed on the Becker’s Hospital Review list as a “Physician Leader to Know” since 2014. A quadruple board-certified pediatric intensivist by training, Dr. Slonim has authored more than 15 textbooks and published more than 60 academic journal articles. He currently serves as Editor for the Physician Leadership Journal and Physician Leadership Library.

Dr. Slonim earned his undergraduate degree at New York Medical College, holds a diploma in professional nursing, and an M.D. from New York Medical College. Dr. Slonim served four years in the United States Public Health Service in Rockville, MD with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He earned both his master’s and doctorate in public health from George Washington University.

Before joining Renown Health, Dr. Slonim served in executive leadership roles at Barnabas Health in NJ, Carillion Clinic in VA and Children’s National Medical Center in DC. He has held hospital appointments at the National Institutes of Health, Walter Reed Medical Center, and Southern Maryland Hospital Center.

Dr. Slonim chairs the American Hospital Association’s Health Care Systems Council representing more than 300 integrated health systems nationwide, chairs the CMR Institute and serves on the American College of Physician Executives’ Finance & Investment Committee. He currently holds a university appointment at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine.

Dr. Slonim leads Renown Health’s charitable mission of “making a genuine difference in the health and well-being,” based on the principles of caring, integrity, collaboration and excellence. The integrated healthcare system includes four hospital campuses; 120 sites of primary, urgent and specialty care; affiliations with Stanford Medicine, the University of Nevada-Reno Medical School, St. Georges University; and a health plan that serves over 230,000 members. In his role at Renown Health, Sy oversees operations at Renown Regional Medical Center, Renown South Meadows Medical Center and Renown’s network services.

A national award-winning senior executive with over 20 years of healthcare experience, Sy has a solid background in strategic, operational and financial business planning; physician relationships and clinical integration; as well as a keen focus on quality and patient service enhancement.

Dawn D. Ahner, DSc, FACHE

Chief Operating Officer - Acute Services

Dawn-Ahner-Web-2015Dawn D. Ahner, DSc, FACHE, is Chief Operating Officer — Acute Services at Renown. Dawn is responsible for the operations of the acute division, including Renown Regional Medical Center, Renown South Meadows Medical Center, Renown Rehabilitation Hospital and Carson Valley Medical Center.

Dawn joined Renown in 1993. Among her many accomplishments, she was responsible for launching Transformational Health Care at Renown — a model for continuous improvement based on the lean methodology. She trained in Japan and at Virginia Mason Health Care System before introducing the program to the organization in 2010.

Ty Windfeldt, MBA

Chief Operating Officer - Health Services

Ty Windfeldt, MBATy Windfeldt is the Chief Operations Officer of the Health Services Division of Renown Health. In his role as the leader of the Health Service Division, Ty oversees Renown Health’s insurance division, Hometown Health, as well as Renown Medical Group and Renown non-hospital based outpatient services.

Ty joined Renown Health in 1995 upon graduation from the University of Nevada, Reno. In his career, he has held several positions within the company, most recently serving as Senior Vice President, Renown Health and Chief Executive Officer, Hometown Health.

He has received several local business and civic recognition awards, including the University of Nevada Distinguished Alumni Award, the University of Nevada Alumni Association Service Award, and the Top 20 under 40 leadership list sponsored by the Reno Gazette Journal/Young Professionals Network.

Ty is a passionate champion for the community and serves on the Boards of University of Nevada-Reno, the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, Prospectors, Sierra Medical Services Alliance (SEMSA) and Special Olympics. An avid outdoorsman, weekend athlete, and Wolfpack fan, he and his wife Lori live in Reno with their children Katie, Cole, and Madison.

Chris Bosse

Chief Government Relations Officer

Chris-Bosse-1Chris Bosse has worked in healthcare and for Renown Health for more than two decades. In her role as VP of Government Relations for Renown Health, Chris is responsible for developing strategic relationships between Renown Health and government and community bodies. In addition, she is responsible for educating federal and state legislators and government and community leaders about healthcare and the issues that put Renown’s services at risk.

Prior to her role in government relations, her roles focused primarily on finance and ranged in scope from financial projects to Vice President of Finance for Renown Regional Medical Center and Vice President of Financial Operations for Renown’s Integrated Health Network, which included traditional financial responsibilities such as financial reporting and budgeting to more healthcare-specific responsibilities such as reimbursement, medical records, admitting, social services and case management.

As a Certified Public Accountant, Chris worked for Ernst and Young prior to joining Renown. She serves on the board of the Nevada Hospital Association, HealthInsight Nevada, HealthInsight Management Corporation, HealtHIE Nevada and Northern Nevada HOPES.

Ron Fuschillo, MBA

Chief Information Officer

Fuschillo-Ron-Web-ReadyRon has been delivering strategic plans for complex healthcare systems and other industries since 1996 and has been a Vice President and Chief Information Officer since 2008.

Ron oversees Renown’s information technology team and focuses on improving patient care through adopting new technology. He is responsible for the planning, implementing and supporting information and communication systems throughout the health network.

He is an active member on several boards including chairing the Toshiba Image Technology Review Board, which provides industry knowledge and experiences to enhance future technology offerings.

Ron has been a VP and CIO at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey as well as Rutland Regional Medical Center in Vermont. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Central Connecticut State University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hartford in Connecticut.

Suzanne Hendery, MA, APR

Chief Marketing Officer

Suzanne Hendery, MASuzanne joined Renown Health from Baystate Health in Springfield, Mass., one of the top integrated health organizations in the country. As a seasoned healthcare executive, she partners with clinicians, colleagues and community members to listen and collaboratively develop programs, communications and experiences that exceed their expectations.

At Renown, she advances the strategy and mission of the organization by growing reputation, engagement, loyalty, referrals and volumes in conjunction with her marketing, internal and external communications, web/digital/social media and media relations team. Suzanne has over 25 years of experience in business strategy, marketing, program development and collaborative innovation through branding and digital strategy, customer experience design, and team member and customer engagement.

Suzanne earned her Master of Arts in Marketing Communications from the University of Connecticut and her Bachelor’s degree in Media Systems and Management from Westfield State University in MA. She is a guest lecturer at Harvard University’s Masters in Management program, the American Marketing Association Health Care Executive Board, and the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development.

Melinda Montoya, JD, CPC, CHC, CHPC

Compliance Officer

Montoya-Melinda-web-readyMelinda is responsible for providing direction and oversight of the Renown Health Corporate Compliance and Internal Audit Program.

Melinda identifies risks and ensures that Renown adheres to a strong code of ethics, principals and policies. Melinda also is the driver of education for employees, board members and physicians on the importance of corporate compliance in the workplace.

Melinda came to Renown with more than a decade of work experience at the University of Arizona Health Network in Tucson, where she began her career as a corporate compliance officer and eventually was named associate general counsel.

She has a Juris Doctorate and a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, both from the University of Arizona. She also is certified in both procedural code and healthcare compliance.

I have confidence this goal will be accomplished with Renown’s caring providers and staff, talented leadership team and dedicated board members. Michelle Sanchez-Bickley, MS, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Chief Human Resources Officer

Michelle Sanchez-Bickley - Vice President Human Resources, Renown HealthMichelle joined Renown Health in 2002 and has been the vice president of Human Resources since 2008. She has more than 20 years of HR leadership experience and 14 years have been in healthcare. Prior to joining Renown, Michelle was living in the San Francisco Bay Area and worked in consulting and financial service industries.

With a bachelor's degree in political science and justice studies from Frostburg State University in Maryland, Michelle earned her master's degree in human resource development from Georgia State University in Georgia. She is a certified senior professional in human resources (SPHR) and a Senior Professional Human Resources Credential (SHRM-SCP) who loves working with such a dedicated group of individuals committed to making a genuine difference for our patients and our community.

Michelle’s involvement with the community includes serving on the boards for Nevadaworks, Education Alliance, and Nevada Association of Employers. She is an advisory board member for Western Governor’s University (WGU), and teaches Human Resource courses through UNR extended studies. Having lived in other areas of the country, she is proud to call Reno home.
