Position Purpose | |
This position is responsible to coordinate the daily operation and maintenance of the utility systems including the assignment of work to subordinates.Additionally, this position may be required to perform maintenance and repair on utility systems and equipment similar to subordinates.This position also coordinates and monitors work performed by outside contractors as assigned by the Plant Operations Manager/Manager of Facility Operations to ensure the work complies with the contract specifications and applicable building and life safety codes.This position will solicit proposals from contractors as directed by the Plant Operations Manager/Manager of Facility Operations. | |
Nature and Scope: | |
The major challenge of this position is to coordinate the work assignments of subordinates to efficiently operate and maintain the complex power, water, steam, chilled water, and medical gas and fire alarm systems of the Medical Center. This position has the authority to determine, within department policies, procedures and guidelines, what is in need of repair or replacement while troubleshooting faulty equipment; the safety status of equipment or systems; to shut down equipment for maintenance after coordinating with affected department (s); and the operational capabilities of equipment.All other decisions must be referred to the Director or Manager. It is common to encounter potential hazards in the healthcare environment.Some of these hazards include, but are not limited to: Radiation, Toxic Chemicals, Biological hazards, Heat, Noise, Dust and Stress.Renown Health has a Safety management Program in place addressing these issues. This position doesn't provide direct patient care. | |

Minimum Qualifications:Requirements - Required and/or Preferred | |
Education: | Must have working-level knowledge of English language, including reading, writing and Speaking English. Associates degree in technical field or completion of a formal apprenticeship program (journeyman status) or equivalent work experience is required. |
Experience: | Previous electrical experience on low and medium voltage generators, switch gear, and related equipment.Previous HVAC experience on boilers, chillers and air handlers.Previous control experience on programmable logic controllers, vacuum tube systems and fire alarm systems. Experience in a hospital environment preferred. |
License(s): | Must have a valid Nevada driver's license. |

Computer / Typing: | Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. |
