Position Purpose

The Enterprise Architect enables the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function by defining, governing, and evolving enterprise technology and solution architectures that advance clinical care, patient access, operational efficiency, research, and digital innovation. Working across business stakeholders, domain architects, engineering, cybersecurity, data/analytics, clinical informatics, and strategic vendors, the role produces and maintains clear architecture assets, principles, capability maps, reference architecture, patterns, standards, and roadmaps. The Enterprise Architect ensures technology decisions aligning to enterprise and clinical strategy and provides architectural guidance to delivery teams to implement solutions that are interoperable, secure, scalable, compliant, and operationally sustainable.

Nature and Scope

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Produce and maintain current/future state architecture views (capability, application, integration, data, and infrastructure).
  • Develop solution options with trade-offs (cost, risk, time-to-value, technical debt, clinical impact) and present recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of enterprise standards (integration patterns, infrastructure, and data patterns)
  • Translate enterprise strategy into sequenced road maps with dependencies, risks, and measurable outcomes.
  • Identify duplication and rationalization opportunities across applications/integration/data platforms.
  • Maintain architecture artifacts that support capital planning, vendor strategy, and modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in discovery and design for key initiatives; ensure solutions align with target architecture and non-functional requirements (availability, resiliency, performance, observability).
  • Review solution designs for interoperability, privacy, and security alignment; ensure architectural decisions are recorded.
  • Partner with Security and Privacy to ensure architectures address security and compliance requirements.
  • Create reusable architecture content (patterns, templates, decision records) and mentor technical teams on how to apply them.
