Position Purpose
This position ensures continued analysis of medical surveillance and monitoring of the health status of patients diagnosed with cancer at the Renown Regional Medical Center. The position will prepare survivorship data summaries utilizing treatment information and develop a tracking mechanism to ensure 100% compliance. This position will assist in ensuring all Pennington Cancer Institute program documentation meet standards requirements and maintain documentation to ensure accurate reporting to accrediting organizations.
Nature and Scope
This position functions under the Quality Coordinator-Cancer Registry and must ensure complete and accurate follow-up data for all cancer patients meeting eligibility requirements by ACoS standards for diagnostic and/or treatment of malignant and specific benign diseases at Renown Health. In addition, this position ensures accurate identification of all new cancer cases through complete case finding.
The coordinator must be familiar with HIPAA standards and able to communicate to physicians, hospital staff, patients and all other customers. The coordinator ensures that all Commission on Cancer, Renown Health, and JCHAO standards and policies are followed.
The coordinator will reconcile monthly Patient Disease Index, pathology surgical, radiation oncology, infusion center and medical oncology office reports with Metriq to ensure case finding and follow-up patient data are identified, analyzed and entered into the Metriq database.
The coordinator must maintain an 80% follow-up rate for the last 15 complete years, and a 90% follow-up rate for the last 5 complete years for cancer cases at all times.
The coordinator must analyze patient recurrence/treatment information to ensure that all disease status, recurrences and location of disease spread are documented in the database.
The coordinator will be responsible for the case-finding processes in the Cancer Registry Department ensuring that all pathology reports, disease index, radiology, pathology and patient listings for radiation oncology, infusion services and the medical oncology clinic are reviewed for a follow-up and/or Metriq recurrence of disease and documented in the
database on a weekly basis.
The coordinator will provide support to assist leadership with Cancer Committee and all Centers of Excellence meetings by maintaining all meeting documentation, analyzing for adherence to CoC Standard requirements and preparation of the agenda packets. Post meeting - ensure scanning and maintenance of all meeting materials into the appropriate computerized directories. The coordinator is responsible for tracking the compliance for assigned CoC standards and completing the monthly Cancer Services Metrics report.
Assist with all other aspects of registry duties such as training, abstracting and chart request. Some travel is required.
