Welcome to Renown! We are excited you have join the team. New Employee Orientation is designed to orient you to the structure and culture of our organization and provide you with the resources you need as you begin your new position. The information below will help answer some of the common questions new employees may have during their first weeks.

Before Your Start Date

  • What do I do after my appointment at Occupational Health?
    Pending your Occupational Health testing results, you are ready to attend orientation and start working! We encourage you to browse the rest of the New Hire Portal to learn more about Renown Health. If you have any questions prior to starting, please contact your Recruiter or email HRRepresentatives@renown.org
  • How do I complete my onboarding paperwork?
    You can access your new hire paperwork by logging into your profile at careers.renown.org. Paperwork needs to be completed within 7 days of receiving it, unless otherwise discussed with your Recruiter. The background check information is sent in a separate link and needs to be completed as soon as you receive it.
  • What is my orientation schedule?
    New employees attend New Employee Orientation virtually at their home on their first day of employment. Employees who will be working in an in-patient environment also attend virtual Clinical Orientation. Dependent on the position, Clinical Orientation may be a half or full day. If a position requires training on the electronic medical record system, employees will also be scheduled for virtual EPIC training. A schedule for these training sessions will be provided to each new employee.
  • How do I complete virtual orientation?
    New employees will be assigned eLessons through the Online Learning Academy. Information on how to access this site will be provided to you during your onboarding. Access to internet, a computer with sound, and the Internet Explorer web browser will be necessary for completion.
  • Where do I go after orientation?
    Each employee’s work schedule will vary. After your scheduled orientation and potential EPIC training, you will report to work in your department. Your leader (direct supervisor) maintains your training schedule in the department. You can find your leader’s contact information in your new employee training schedule provided.
  • How am I paid for my time while at New Employee Orientation?
    Employees are paid for eight hours of time for New Employee Orientation. These hours are added to your time card by payroll. Beginning on day two of employment, you need to clock in using a time clock or using the Kronos mobile app.
  • I did not receive the initial email to access the Smart Scrubs website to order uniforms. What do I do?
    Please contact Smart Scrubs Support at email groups@smartscrubs.com.
  • Where are the training rooms for EPIC (electronic medical records system)?
    The training rooms for EPIC(EMR) classes are at Renown Regional Medical Center. There is a map of the Regional campus as well as directions to the EPIC training rooms in the back of the New Employee Workbook.
  • Who is my leader?
    When you hear the term leader, it is referring to the person to whom you directly report. Your leader’s contact information is included in your offer letter from Recruitment.

After Your Start Date

  • How do I clock in and out?
    During orientation, employees are instructed how to log time worked. Nonexempt employees use their identification badges to record time worked in UKG (Kronos), the timekeeping system. Nonexempt employees must swipe their badges at a time bank reader each workday when the shift begins and ends. Employees who do not have access to a time clock register their time via MyTimestamp.
  • Where should I park once I'm at my department?
    Parking maps are available for Renown Regional Medical Center and Renown South Meadows Medical Centers, and the Rehabilitation Hospital campuses in the New Employee Workbook. For other locations or specific parking questions, check with your leader once you report to your department.
  • Where do I pick up my first paycheck?
    Enrolling in direct deposit will go into effect immediately, your first pay check will be direct deposited. If you choose to not enroll in direct deposit, you will receive a pay card on your first pay day. You can contact Payroll with questions at 775-982-4136.
  • How do I sign up for direct deposit?
    Employees can enroll in direct deposit online through UKG (Kronos). Instructions and resources are provided during virtual orientation.
  • When can I access Kronos from home or the mobile app?
    You are able to access Kronos beginning the second day of employment.
  • Who can help me with computer/log information?
    Your leader will have your specific log on credentials to the computer and systems you will need for your job. If you have any questions or technical issues, call the Help Desk at 775-982-4042.
  • Who can I contact if I have questions about the uniform policy?
    Call the Human Resources office at 775-982-4156 or 775-982-4434.
  • How can I update my address?
    Log in to UKG (Kronos) and navigate to the Employee Home page link. There is a section titled Personal Information. Click the Contact link under that section to edit your address.
