Please join us for Renown Health’s free one-hour class for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) education! Our goal is to give you the knowledge to better manage your COPD by increasing your understanding of the disease process, medications and how to use them and creating an action plan you can use every day. This informative class outlines ways grandparents can offer support and assistance to a new family while discussing current birth practices and infant care trends. All women have different postpartum and recovery experiences after giving birth. This 2-hour class helps prepare mom and partner on what to expect after birth and the weeks to follow, and is offered every other month and is open to mothers and their partners. A few topics discussed in this class are: Postpartum care in the hospital Changes after birth Caring for yourself during postpartum The difference between postpartum blues and postpartum depression Mother’s warning signs Adjustments once you get home The new father or partner Please note: There is a waiting list for this class. The perfect place to start if you’re thinking about babysitting! After completion, you’ll have all the skills necessary to keep young children safe in case of an emergency and how to interview for a babysitting job. Designed for ages 11-15, this class will teach you how to change diapers, understand crib safety, bottle feeding basics, pediatric first aid, Infant/Child CPR, child development, and more. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion, not a traditional CPR card. Please pack a lunch, water & snacks or you can eat at our Sierra Café or Starbucks. In addition, this class provides a safe forum to ask questions and help you make informed decisions about key issues surrounding your baby’s birth. Along with car seat safety and basic baby proofing, discussion will include prevention and treatment of common injuries. Students will also learn and practice the skills necessary to perform infant CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), as well as the skills necessary to assist a choking infant. The American Heart Association Family & Friends “Infant CPR and Choking” (birth to one year) course is for those who want to learn Infant CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job. Grandparents and other caregivers are welcome to attend. This class is geared towards infants and toddlers and includes both Infant and Child CPR.
