The Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) named Renown Health's Institute for Cancer a Screening Center of Excellence for its ongoing commitment to responsible lung cancer screening. Our team of experts is dedicated to the prevention, detection and treatment of lung cancer with a multidisciplinary approach to care and our comprehensive network of testing and treatment programs help you before and after lung cancer diagnosis.
Lung cancer begins when abnormal cells grow out of control in the lungs. It most often affects people who have a history of smoking, although there are other causes. Lung cancer can be grouped into three main types: non-small cell, small cell and lung carcinoid tumors.
Depending on type, stage and location, treatment for lung cancer may include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy or a combination of these therapies. The five-year survival rate increases dramatically if lung cancer is treated before it spreads to other parts of the body.
