Renown Health is dedicated to providing services to patients and welcoming visitors in a manner that respects, protects, and promotes patient rights.

Our environment is also free of harassment and does not tolerate prohibited conduct towards employees by anyone, including without limitation, including management, co-workers, vendors, volunteers, students, providers, clients, visitors or patients of the organization.

  • Harassment is defined as unwelcome conduct, behavior, speech, action, gestures, whether verbal, physical or visual, which creates an intimidating hostile or offensive environment that might be based upon a person’s status, including appearance, physical characteristics, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic information, color, race, ancestry, religion, national origin, age, medical condition, disability, marital status, veteran or military National Guard status, citizenship status, pregnancy or any other vulnerable person. 

Our Goal for Reducing Health Disparities

Renown Health’s Community Benefit mission is to reduce health disparities, to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services to our patient population, promote community wellness and improve access to care for vulnerable populations with respect to linguistic concerns, race, color, age, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender identity and sexual orientation, and other cultural aspects. 

This includes offering free and discounted care to those unable to afford healthcare, and partnerships with others to address health and well-being. In partnership with over 160 community-based organizations, area schools, human and social service agencies, and government and business leaders, Renown supports many educational, public health outreach, and community development initiatives throughout Nevada.

  • FY20, Renown Health, a locally governed, not-for-profit community health network spent more than $194 Million for health education, community initiatives and non-reimbursed healthcare services.
  • In FY21, Renown Health collaborated with Conduent Healthy Communities Institute (HCI) to conduct the 2021 Washoe County Community Health Needs Assessment. This report provides an overview of the methods and processes used to identify and prioritize significant health needs in Washoe County, Nevada. The goal of this report is to offer a meaningful understanding of the most pressing health needs across Renown Health’s Primary Service Area, as well as to guide planning efforts to address those needs. After soliciting community input, special attention is given to the needs of vulnerable populations and unmet health needs or gaps in services. Additionally, a section has been added to the report that focuses on the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on Washoe County. Findings from this report will be used to identify and develop the Renown Health Implementation Plan for 2021-2023, providing initiatives to connect patients with resources to improve health challenges in the community.
  • In FY21 Renown Health donated $550,000 to nonprofit community events and programs aimed to support identified priority health needs which impacted 2,600,900 members of our community. 
  • In FY21, the Renown Health laboratory performed over 1,000 free covid-19 tests for area nonprofit employees, communities of color and clients.
  • Renown invests millions of dollars locally through strategic community partnerships outlined in “A Plan to Improve the Health of Our Community.” Community Benefits Partnerships continue in to the third year with Quest Counseling, Communities in Schools, Note-Able Music Therapy Services, HOPES, Join Together Northern Nevada, Nevada Tobacco Prevention Coalition, Reno/Sparks Indian Colony Health Services. Grant amounts range from $80,000-$150,000 per year. Grants were provided based on the following primary health priorities identified: #1 Mental Health, #2 Substance Abuse, #3 Physical Activity, Nutrition and Weight, #4 Chronic Disease.

Diversity & Inclusiveness Grant Recipients

In keeping with its mission, vision and values and the organization’s long-standing commitment to addressing the social determinants of health, this year, Renown announced its support of $145,000 to 55 nonprofit organizations with projects aiming to increase the presence and participation of women, racial and ethnic minorities, LBGTQ+ people, people with disabilities, people of low socioeconomic status, and other underrepresented groups.
