  • Pediatric Cardiology

For more than 25 years, Children’s Heart Center Nevada* and Renown Children’s Hospital have worked closely to coordinate exceptional congenital cardiac care for our community on an inpatient and outpatient basis. We primarily service the greater Reno and Carson City area as well as parts of Northeastern California. We had approximately 8,000 patient contacts in 2023. We provide specialty care most commonly to newborns, infants and children. Early detection of congenital heart disease is critical to achieving better outcomes. Children’s Heart Center Nevada’s unique Fetal Cardiology Program is one of the largest in the nation. Our physicians work closely with area perinatologists to diagnosis issues before birth. This allows better preparation for parents and physicians. Our fetal cardiology program is one of only five in the United States to receive Fetal Echocardiography Accreditation by the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine. Our center has achieved a 90% fetal detection rate of complex congenital heart disease. This is the highest in the country and three times the national average. Our physicians are skilled in making a structural and functional assessment of the heart and related anatomy. Tests commonly performed include, but are not limited to, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, treadmill stress testing and event monitoring. For those patients who may need heart surgery or interventional care, our pediatric cardiologists work closely with pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons and interventionalists to determine the appropriate treatment and service center best suited for patients and their families. We provide follow-up care for patients requiring out of area services locally. We look forward to expanding our diagnostic and treatment services in the future to meet the needs of our growing community.  * Children’s Heart Center Nevada is not a member of Renown Medical Group Conditions we Treat: Heart murmurs Chest pain Known heart problems Syncope Family history of heart conditions Irregular heart beats Hypertension High blood pressure High cholesterol Rheumatic fever Kawasaki’s disease Previous heart surgery Fetal anomalies

Renown provides world-class patient care through a sustainable quality improvement program. The American College of Cardiology has recognized Renown Health for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality culture and cardiovascular care. Renown was awarded the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence in 2024 based on meeting accreditation criteria, and through their ongoing performance registry reporting. Hospitals and health systems that have earned an ACC HeartCARE Center designation have met a set of criteria, including participating in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs, NCDR registries and targeted quality improvement campaigns, such as the Patient Navigator Program: Focus MI, designed to help hospitals and institutions close gaps in guideline-based care. Renown Health was previously awarded Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI Distinction, Heart Failure Accreditation with Outpatient Services Distinction and Transcatheter Valve Certification by ACC Accreditation Services. “We are proud to be the region’s leader for cardiac health, heart and vascular care with the most advanced medical, surgical and minimally invasive specialty care, technology and research,” said Brian Erling, MD, MBA, President and CEO of Renown Health. “On behalf of the Renown Institute for Heart & Vascular Health team, our patients and our community, we are humbled to be nationally recognized for the cardiovascular care we provide and to be considered a destination for heart care.” “Renown Health has demonstrated its commitment to providing northern Nevada with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award Renown Health with the HeartCARE Center designation.” Hospitals receiving the HeartCARE Center designation from the ACC have demonstrated their commitment to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care through comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence, and community engagement. The ACC offers U.S. and international hospitals like Renown Health access to a comprehensive suite of cardiac accreditation services designed to optimize patient outcomes and improve hospital financial performance. The nationally acclaimed Renown Institute for Heart & Vascular Health provides the region with top-tier cardiovascular care, including 11 cardiovascular specialties, 52 providers and 69,000 patient visits per year. ### About Renown Health Renown Health is Nevada’s largest, not-for-profit integrated healthcare network serving Nevada, Lake Tahoe, and northeast California. • Women's Heart Center

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease kills more women than all forms of cancer combined and yet only 44% of women recognize that cardiovascular disease is their greatest health threat. Recognizing the urgent need for women's cardiac care, Renown Health established the Helaine Greenberg Women's Heart Center, the first of its kind in Nevada.
