RN Critical Care Fellowship

Train to Work in the ICU or ED Setting

The Critical Care Fellowship Program at Renown Regional is a guided program offering nurses clinical experiences in intensive care and emergency specialties.

The fellowship prepares RNs to work in the specialty of their choice upon program completion. This program is intended for the RNs working outside the intensive care unit (ICU) or emergency department (ED) interested in professional advancement into the ICU or ED setting. Our fellows will gain exposure to these specialty areas while completing guided shadow shifts in the emergency department and all adult intensive care units. The RN must maintain their position on their home unit during the Fellowship Program. After completing the Fellowship Program, the RN can apply to any open RN positions in the adult ICUs and EDs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • RN has successfully completed the current unit orientation requirements
  • Unit Manager recommendation/approval
  • RN has completed all educational requirements (OLAs, required classes)
  • RN has at least six months of experience in their home unit
  • No performance/attendance concerns or corrective actions within the last year

Program Requirements:

  • Maintain scheduled hours on the home unit
  • Complete all nine shadow shifts within 6-12 months
  • Complete the Transition to Critical Care Class
  • Attend all scheduled meetings with ICU/ED educators/managers
  • Complete Critical Care Fellowship Orientation Packet

Duration: Applications are accepted year-round.
