Renown Children’s Hospital reconnected former neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patients of all ages with their physicians, nurses and care teams on Saturday, Sept. 26 during the annual NICU Graduation.

Families gathered to reconnect, share memories and celebrate how far their children have come. Graduates also shared photos from their time in the NICU, offering a special look at their journeys from some of their earliest days to where they are today.

Celebrating How Far They’ve Come

For Renown’s NICU team, the annual celebration is an opportunity to see the lasting impact of the care they provide and reconnect with families they supported during some of their most vulnerable moments.

“One of the most rewarding parts of caring for our NICU patients is getting to see who they become. Welcoming these children and their families back, seeing how much they’ve grown and celebrating their milestones with them is incredibly special for our entire NICU team,” said Paige McCall, CEO, Golisano Children’s Hospital at Renown Health.

Renown Children’s Hospital’s Level III NICU provides specialized, around-the-clock care for premature and newborn infants who need additional support after birth. With more than 4,000 babies born at Renown each year, the NICU plays an important role in ensuring newborns and families have access to the care and resources they need. “As northern Nevada’s largest and most comprehensive Level III NICU, we are committed to providing life-saving care for newborns with complex medical needs,” McCall said.

Caring for Babies Across Northern Nevada

Renown also partners with REMSA Health to provide the area’s only NICU Transport Team, helping critically ill infants from surrounding rural communities safely access specialized neonatal care at Renown.

ER Wait Times

How are wait times calculated?

Our estimated ER wait times reflect the average time from check-in to being seen by a medical professional during triage, where patients are prioritized based on the severity of their condition.
