Renown Health and the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine invite applications for a Medical Director for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) to join the growing William N. Pennington Cancer Institute. The Medical Director will provide strategic and clinical leadership of all aspects of the BMT and Cellular Therapies program to advance program goals and quality standards. The Medical Director will also oversee BMT and Cellular Therapies related research initiatives, education, and accreditation compliance. This role is ideal for a board-certified hematologist-oncologist with expertise in hematologic malignancies, stem cell transplantation, and cellular immunotherapy.

You would be part of a major expansion designed to establish the first NCI-designated Cancer Center in Northern Nevada, advancing our mission to deliver exceptional, evidence-based cancer care close to home. Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership

• Direct strategic planning and growth of the BMT and Cell Therapy service line.
• Ensure compliance with Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapies (FACT) accreditation and other regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across hematology/oncology optimize program efficiency and patient outcomes.

Clinical Care

• Provide direct patient care in hematologic malignancies, with a clinical focus in cellular therapy and/or stem cell transplantation.
• Maintain an active outpatient and inpatient clinical schedule, with responsibilities proportioned to accommodate leadership duties.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, tumor boards, and clinical rounds.
• Oversee the development and implementation of clinical protocols related to CAR-T, stem cell transplant (autologous and allogeneic), and emerging cellular therapies.
• Maintain high standards of patient safety, outcomes, and satisfaction.
• Support and mentor fellows, residents, and advanced practice providers in clinical settings.

Research & Innovation

• Develop and lead investigator-initiated and collaborative clinical trials.
• Partner with translational researchers to advance novel therapies.
• Promote a culture of innovation and academic excellence.
• Provide educational leadership within the department and contribute to faculty development and continuing education.

Education & Mentorship

• Mentor junior faculty, fellows, and trainees in hematology/oncology.
• Lead educational initiatives and CME programs related to BMT and cell therapy.

Operational Oversight

• Collaborate with hospital leadership to meet financial and productivity goals.

Qualifications:

• MD or DO with board certification in Hematology/Oncology.
• Significant experience in BMT and cellular therapies.
• Familiarity with FACT accreditation, cGMP standards, and quality assurance in cellular therapy.
• Proven leadership in clinical, academic, and research settings.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Nevada.
