Study Information

Summary / Purpose

This study examines the role of access to care, patient/family interactions with the healthcare system, and stress in explaining variations in quality of end of life care. The data collected from this study may help researchers develop a model for identifying patients at risk of low quality end of life care as well as recommendations for potential future interventions.

Who Can Participate

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Adults 18+ years of age
  • A parent, legal guardian, or caregiver (biological or non-biological) of a child who was enrolled on APEC14B1, Project:EveryChild (Stratum 1) and who passed away from a cancer/oncologic condition before 18 years of age
  • Familiar with the care the child received during the last month of their life

What's Involved

Participation in the study will include:
  • A review of the child's medical records by the study team
  • Completing a survey about the care your child received
  • Taking part in an interview, if you choose to
