Renown Health Partners with Food Bank of Northern Nevada to Support Families Impacted By Government Shutdown and SNAP Shortages

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN) and Renown Health are partnering to expand food access for families, children and seniors affected by the federal government shutdown and recent SNAP and WIC benefit shortages. Renown Health has provided $140,000 in emergency support to help meet the region’s growing need for nutritious food.
Meeting Urgent Needs Across Northern Nevada
The emergency funding comes as the region faces a surge in food insecurity and temporary elimination of essential food assistance programs including WIC (Women, Infants and Children) and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). With thousands of Nevadans suddenly left without these lifelines, the demand for help from local food pantries has sharply increased.
“We are grateful to Renown Health for stepping forward in big way during this critical moment,” said Nicole Lamboley, President & CEO of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. “The loss of federal nutrition programs has created real hardship for families, children and seniors who rely on these benefits. Renown’s generous support is allowing us to deliver healthy food to our neighbors in need across our region.”
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada distributes more than 26.8 million pounds of food annually through a network of more than 144 partner agencies across the region. This emergency contribution will help expand access to nutritious food through community food pantries, Mobile Harvest distributions, and senior nutrition programs during this period of high demand.
“At Renown Health, we believe good health starts with access to basic needs, and that begins with food,” said Brian Erling, MD, MBA, CEO and President, Renown Health. “Working together with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, we’re helping to ensure that every family, child and senior can access the nutritious food they need to stay healthy, especially during these challenging times.”
