Renown Health and Nevada Wolf Pack Basketball teamed up to “Take Charge Against Cancer,” raising awareness and funds during the Men’s Basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 21. Amber, Manager of Imaging at Renown South Meadows Medical Center, was recognized during the game and presented with the game ball, a meaningful moment shared with her sister, one of her sons and her boyfriend.
For seven years, Amber has been part of the Renown team, serving in her current leadership role for three years. Before becoming Manager of Imaging, she worked as a Supervisor in Outpatient Imaging, building strong relationships across departments. Colleagues know her for her steady leadership and commitment to both patients and team members.
In addition to her professional responsibilities, Amber is active in supporting the cancer community across northern Nevada.
She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and more recently with Stage IV brain cancer. She has undergone surgery, radiation and chemotherapy and continues treatment with the support of her care team. Throughout it all, she has remained engaged with her work, her family and the community around her.

Receiving care within the same health system where she works has added another layer of perspective.
“It has been great to be part of the Renown community while getting my care here as well,” she shared. “It’s wonderful to know that I am getting taken care of and that I am supported by people from other departments.”
Colleagues also helped Amber navigate insurance questions and scheduling during treatment, reinforcing the strength of support across the organization.
The recognition during the Nevada vs. Utah State matchup carried special meaning.
"The recognition meant a lot to me,” she said. “To be acknowledged by Renown during my second cancer journey and for the work I’ve done supporting the cancer community was incredibly meaningful.”
Fitness and movement have long been important parts of Amber’s life. She has competed in bodybuilding competitions and enjoys running, hiking and spending time outdoors. She remains focused on staying active and has future travel plans.
Amber's message to others is simple: prioritize your health.
"Listen to your body and get things checked out if something doesn’t feel right,” she shared. “Do all your screenings and preventive care when it is time to catch things early.”

The evening reflected that message in action. In addition to recognizing Amber as the game ball recipient, the event helped raise funds for the William N. Pennington Cancer Institute’s Oncology Wellness Program. Support from the community will help expand resources and services designed to promote wellness, early detection and patient support throughout northern Nevada.
